Barong Bali Resort Ubud

We were in love with the location of the resort - outside the hectic Ubud but within a reasonable driving distance, very close to the iconic coffee plantations - about a 10 minute drive by car - and right outside local rice fields frequented by farmers in the morning and evening. We also absolutely loved the design and furniture of the room - all felt very Balinese and authentic compared to other properties that tried to wow through modernity so the room at Barong was probably our favourite from that perspective. We stayed on the upper floor and our room came with a little terrace alongside a private pool.

The bathroom is open space, which means there are at least a couple of lizards inhabiting there and that made us quite uncomfortable. There were also an anthill on the terrace, with those fighting kind of ants that bite. We had to request that staff came in to spray insect repellent - although that was a given standard in all other properties we stayed at in Bali. Other than that, the food was more than underwhelming and took ages to be delivered to our room - and we had both breakfast and dinner at the property.

This villa in Ubud is the best we’ve stayed at so far! The room was spacious, super comfortable, and had a stunning rice field view during sunrise. The whole vibe was perfectly relaxing and gave a real holiday feel. We loved enjoying the beautiful view while having breakfast in the resort’s restaurant. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and it was a shame we only stayed for two nights – we wish we could have stayed longer! Highly recommend and will definitely stay again next time!

Very attentive staff, Dekta, Komang & Sakunta were always very helpful with anything and everything we asked. Our driver/guide, Dek, was great. He was very friendly, and was able to answer all our questions on local customs and Bali in general. His driving always felt safe, and any recommendations he gave us for places to visit were always perfect and exactly what we were looking for. The food was great, especially the smoothie bowls and the Nasi/Mie Gorengs. The surrounding Rice fields made us feel immersed in Bali straight away. The value for money was amazing, especially with the quality & comfort of the place, as well as all the services on offer. We will definitely be recommending Barung Bali Resort and Dek to any friends and family that are visiting Ubud.

Quiet area with great views of mountain & rice fields

Gave me the wrong room but got rectified the next day. Saw a rat just outside that ‘wrong’ room (villa) the first night there. Good thing my door wasn’t opened. - Ants everywhere - TBH:- Only a 1-year old hotel (as I was informed) but definitely needs deep cleaning & maintenance. Doors don’t latch well or are broken. Cobwebs!! Insane amount in the room If you can deal with the gecko & frog noises too at night, then it’s good too.

The room and my private pool that was amazing. Additionally I appreciate the efforts the team made in order to get the room before check-in as i came to the resort exhausted after my 9hour flight. Thank you to the amazing front office team and the entire management of Barong!!!

Loved the location, in the rice fields off the main street. Lovely and peaceful. Great room on the 3rd floor with fantastic views & our own dipping pool. 2 balconies both with spectacular views. Excellent shower & an outdoor bath tub. Breakfast was included and there was plenty of variety. Staff were helpful & friendly & organised a massage in the room for us aswell as a driver for a day trip.

The stairs up to the room but well worth it for the views. And both above 50years, we managed just fine!

It was well placed just outside of Ubud, lovely restaurant and fantastic staff.

Th sun was only on our apartment until midday, there wasn’t any loungers for us and the bathroom privacy was a tad odd.

Staff super friendly and helpful, beautiful view and room with a nice private pool!

The water temperature of the shower was hard to manage and the bathroom could have a little bit more privacy from the outside

Resort is in a quiet area in the middle of rice fields. Room was comfortable and good size. Bed was excellent. The outdoor pool and bath was great too. Staff is very friendly and go beyond themselves to please you.
