Very comfortable

The hotel has a wonderful old-world ambience but has all the modern amenities. It is possibly the only hotel located inside the ISU campustown with everything conveniently reachable in walking distance. The rooms and bed are exceptionally clean and very comfortable, and the large windows provide wonderful views of the serene neighborhood. I also suspect that the hot breakfast served here (with eggs made to order) is possibly the best in Ames. Staff at the breakfast table are friendly and accommodating.

I booked three nights on booking.com and then extended the stay for another three nights at the hotel. I later noticed that the rate charged on extension was significantly higher than the rate offered by booking.com for the same room on the same days. Therefore, I would recommend booking this hotel via booking.com instead of a direct booking. Other than this, I found the hotel to be exceptional and charming.

Nice to stay in a cozy home rather than a conventional chain hotel, and close to ISU campus. Nice decor, excellent room, well equipped.

Entering with a code always leaves me nervous… what if it does not work? This time, it only worked in one of the two available doors to enter the building.

Our son is a freshman at Iowa State and we stayed here once before on a visit and loved it. This time we stayed was during a huge snow storm and the temps were -10. This added hours on to our drive from Chicago. When we got there we were beyond stressed. This place was the perfect way to relax. We brought a bottle of wine with us and found the little common room in the basement with the comfy couch and big screen TV and that's where we stayed under a warm blanket. That sure beats the sterile rooms and halls of a regular hotel. This was exactly what we needed to de-stress and prepare for the next day's drive.

The only thing is that we were in room 101 which is beautiful and we loved it. However there is no room number label so it took us a while to find it. They left a floor plan, but we were too stressed and cold from our drive to figure it out, so this is probably on us.
