The Pines Men-Only Stay

This is the PERFECT place to stay while you in Fire Island Pines. Since this is a men’s only property, you feel completely at ease and comfortable, and I was able to fully relax and enjoy all the wonderful amenities, such as the HEATED pool and the beautiful outdoor shower. The host Michael is incredibly kind and welcoming, and always happy to answer any questions you have and makes you feel right at home. The room was very well designed with everything you would need, including your own private bathroom, coffee machine and mini fridge. The bed was also extremely comfortable and I had such restful sleeps. Location is perfect, easy walking distance to the main plaza and a couple minutes away from the beach. I highly, highly recommend this property, I’m already planning my next stay here. This is by far, the best option for a trip on the island!

Good location (although booking.com and the owner both failed to advise customers that no car is allowed on the island), quiet neighborhood. Facilities are clean and fairly new.

Due to my unbeknownst expired driver's license (I was stationed overseas for the last 9 months and thus had no use of my driver's license and thus wasn't aware of its expiration), I wasn't able to rent a car (already booked and paid for in advance through booking.com) when I landed at JFK at 10:30pm on the night of Oct 9th. The rental counter was closed already without any notice from either Dollar Rental Car or booking.com. I must wait until the morning of the 10th to register then found out that my DL already expired. They consequently refused to let me check-in. I sent messages to booking.com, Dollar Rental Car and Mr. Micheal of Fire Island Pines Rooms advising that I must cancel the booking for the car rental and hotel booking for the reason stated above (or alternatively postpone the hotel check-in for 1 day). However, booking.com refused to reimburse my prepaid car rental and Mr. Micheal also refused to cancel the hotel booking which was also prepaid. I must take the train to New Haven the next day to pickup my daughter and finally traveled by Lyft and ferries to the island on Oct 11th. I think it's fair that Mr. Micheal should at least credit me back for 1 night which I didn't stay and charged me for only 2 nights. Same thing for booking.com: it's like cheating on your customers to keep the entire prepaid car rental for 4 days without refund any (for reasons which were unforseeable) for a car which was not even taken out the car rental parking lot!

Both the property and the host exceeded my expectations by far. The room was squeaky clean, cosy and thoughtfully decorated. The house, the garden and the pool offered everything for a relaxed and care-free vacation. Michael is a gracious host who makes his guests feel truly welcome. I had a lovely time. Thank you, Michael!
