Fuego Atitlan Eco-Hotel

The yurt was amazing! Exactly as pictured, the views were stunning the breakfast was fantastic and the kitchen was great. Lots of steps, bit it really wasnt that bad - well worth it for the views

The eco-toilet is a little smelly, not too big of a deal, just something to be aware of.

It’s such a magical stay surrounded by nature, the lake and volcanoes. You wake up to singing birds and the most wonderful views. The night sky is also magical. The staff is extremely kind and the common kitchen is great.

Some stairs to get to the property, a bit painful for us since we went after our hike to acatenango. But the stay and views make it worth it.

Nice experience to sleep in a Yurt. Awesome view and sunrise from bed. Tasty breakfast. Helpful introduction.

Many stairs with heavy backpack were hard. Asked for an additional blanket because we were cold at night but didn't get one.

Insanely beautiful views (sunrise, sunset, stargazing). The perfect spot to disconnect and recharge! Delicious breakfast, great staff - big thanks to Paula, Herson, and Flora -, sweet pets, comfortable bed, and importantly, a place where they care about the environment. Please don't change that!

None of these points were a problem to me but, as mentioned: there are many steps to the property; it can get cold at night; you're not right into town, meaning you need a tuk tuk (10Q) to get to San Marcos; the tents are not very well sealed and there's no mosquito net over your bed. I strongly suggest ensuring the structures are well sealed (no gaps in the corners and nets) AND adding a mosquito net over the bed. It's normal to have spiders and insects in such a natural place, and they shouldn't be chased away from their home, but the two points above would Greatly increase the comfort of visitors without disrupting the ecosystem. At any rate, the spiders are harmless :)

Las vistas son muy bonitas, y es muy agradable alojarse en plena naturaleza con, además, tan poco impacto medioambiental, pues tiene muchas medidas encaminadas a disminuir su huella. Destaco la amabilidad del guardia, Gerson, que nos estuvo ayudando a sacar insectos de la habitación.

Sin duda, la coexistencia con todo tipo de animales en la habitación. Siendo un hotel localizado en pleno bosque asumíamos la eventual presencia de insectos, pero lo que no esperábamos es que la habitación comunicara directamente con el exterior por múltiples sitios, lo que permitía la entrada y salida constante de todo tipo de criaturas (arañas -encontramos unas 7 nada más llegar a la habitación, la más grande de unos 6 cm de largo- y por supuesto, hormigas, abejas, palometas, etc). Esto genera bastante intranquilidad, porque aunque sea poco probable que un animal peligroso entre, supongo que el riesgo tampoco es cero, y no es agradable tener que dormir con eso cada noche. Además, los inodoros eran secos, lo cual ya conocíamos, pero estaban poco limpios y generaba malos olores. Y la limpieza dejaba que desear. Creo que se debería informar de estas cosas para poder reservar con conocimiento, aparte de las fotos con preciosas vistas.

Magnifique vue de la chambre avec très bon petit déjeuners traditionnel servi à notre chambre. Le grand lit était très confortable et la terrasse magnifique. L’accueil et le sourire de Paula ont fait de notre séjour un moment magique.

Il est bon de savoir qu’il y a beaucoup de marches à monter pour se rendre aux chambres. Aussi, comme à plusieurs autres endroits à San Marcos, il pourrait y avoir de grosses araignées dans la chambre occasionnellement.
