Cosy private cottage near beach

The location was stunning and the locals very friendly and helpful. The cottage was characterful and cosy. It was well stocked with items that made the stay comfortable and practicality was well thought of. It was in an ideal location for visiting Exmoor Zoo (reason for our stay) and Ilfracombe was just the other side of a hill within easy walking distance. The convenience store at the top of the road was really useful. The person listed as our emergency contact did all he could to resolve the Wifi issue and was very friendly and willing to help as much as he could.

We arrived on an unseasonably wet & chilly evening and there were no logs supplied for the wood burner. The cottage smelt damp and musty in the living area downstairs. I realise it is a very old building and the weather had been rainy for a while but it smelt unlived in. The door locks and bedroom door latches were temperamental to say the least! The latch to the twin bedroom needs to be replaced asap as it jams shut which scared my daughter. We thought we were unable to gain access to the property as the front door lock is hard to work. The bathroom bolt isn't fit for purpose as the door can still be opened from outside & inside even when bolt is in place. We lost Wifi on Tuesday ( after arriving at 6pm on the Monday evening) and the issue could not be resolved. Finally, the Sea View Terrace at the top of the garden was inaccessible. It was cordoned off with hazard tape, as the stairs and part of the deck were rotten. This was disappointing as we would have used the area if available as advertised by the host. It was a shame that the cottage felt a little rundown and unloved as it is in a lovely location.

Kitchen sides and table were very sticky, pathway was very over grown so was hard to walk up it. 2 keys were given only the Yale lock worked and was extremely hard to lock at night time from the inside . Back garden could not be used by my mother and father as it was unsafe to walk. Myself and my daughter walked up to the end of the garden and the views were amazing but it really needs to be sorted out for the money that was paid.

A lovely cottage and a great base. Views from the top of the garden are beautiful. Had everything we needed.great nights sleep in comfortable beds. Parking space at the front of the cottage is a huge plus..

Great location just moments from a lovely bay.

Quite run down, especially the garden. Garden bench has collapsed and the whole area is overgrown. Property seems poorly maintained. No washing up liquid provided and the soap in the bathroom had been watered down.

The location was fantastic
