"Hostile Host, Mice, No Hot Water and Partial Heating"

3.0

Hostile Host - Mice and No Hot Water Extremely disappointing stay. There were mice running and squeaking above the mezzanine's bed at night, making it impossible to use the bed; I had to sleep on the sofa. There was also no hot water in the kitchen or bathroom sinks, and the heating of the sofa/mezzanine area wasn't working. When I politely informed the host (Chris), he was incredibly rude, calling my claims 'unfounded' and accusing me of 'unjustly' trying to get money. Past reviews show similar water and heating issues, so these are known problems the host refuses to fix. Avoid this property if you value hygiene and professional service. Booking Customer Service had to step in and offered a small voucher.

"Great place to explore Helston and the Lizard"

7.0

Very convenient location to explore Helston and the Lizard. 10 minutes walk into town. Easy access to key and parking outside front door. No traffic, only bird song.

Same as previous peoples comments, if self catering could do with a few more items for kitchen, eg. wine glasses, baking sheet for pizza etc.

"Comfortable and quiet stay - thank you."

8.0

A lovely little self contained apartment with plenty of room, separate bedroom, comfortable sofa, good heating etc. Parking spot right outside and lovely walking path also. Great internet. The communication with directions was really helpful and well worth taking careful notice of.

The bed is very low. I only mention that for anyone who might struggle to get up from it. The bathroom was fairly narrow with a step in bath but it was fine.

"We love the area, know porthleven well. We’d recommend to others and would stay again. Great overnight stay."

8.0

Lovely old building, good location and good to have a parking space

Not really ‘didn’t like’ but would have been nice to have an info sheet maybe abt the local area? Pint of milk in the fridge? Cottage was clean enough but would benefit from a deep clean/dust/fresh lick of paint.
