The Village Breeze By Lucky

This was the second time in years that I have stayed at this place and each time I am amazed by the hospitality of these people. Lucky and his family are truly exceptional and very hospitable, everything was perfect here and the place is truly fantastic. They are now like family to me and I can't wait to come back again and again. Furthermore, Lucky is a perfect guide, excellent knowledge of the territory for a true local experience. I love these people and their passion for hospitality. Highly recommended if you want to meet simple and genuine people.

Both diner and breakfast we excellent. Lucky wife is a very good cook. The building is very nice. Lucky is very friendly and helpfull.

Unfortunately we had a lot of rain during our stay.

It's a really nice place. Perfect location if you're going to Yapachuwa or Dambula. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. Plus, there's a place to park your tuk-tuk.

Lucky and his wife were great hosts. Location was convenient to some nearby tourist sites, Yapahuwa being one. Lucky is very knowledgeable in the area and country, he can assist with anything that's required. Dinner and breakfast was plentiful, authentic and very tasty served outside which was very nice. If your passing through, stay here, very friendly and welcoming hosts. Thank you's..!!

Lack of hot water.

Lucky is a great host! He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. He was very responsive to our questions. Dinner was excellent and plentiful! Accommodations were basic, but fine for us for just 1 night. And, accommodations were very reasonable for the price.

There was nothing that we didn't like. The rooms were warm without a/c, but the fan helped. We didn't have hot water or wifi, which was fine for us because we just stayed the night. Just think it's worth noting.

Great one night stop over on our cycling tour. Comfortable room with fan and modquito net. Good dinner and breakfast served in the garden by friendly owners. Good value for money.

I didn’t stay at the property as the owner had some work done on it. Instead he arranged for us to stay at his uncle hotel a few km away.

Lucky is a good host and wants to make his guests feel welcome. And I appreciate that. But I have a few things to say about my stay. If you are new to Sri Lanka and are not familiar with what is reasonable price for certain service here are some comments: The dinner in Lucky’s place is delicious but the most expensive one you will have in Sri Lanka. I have travelled all over the country 3 times in the past 10 years (last trip in 2022) and the dinner at his place is by far the most expensive one I had. Also if you do want to eat dinner at his place you need to decide by 2pm. A bit too early for me to make dinner plans while I’m out and about exploring the area. The hotel room in his uncle’s hotel we stayed in was very basic; bathroom drainage is very bad so pretty much you flood the bathroom every time you shower and there is no hot water. The bedroom has no AC, only standing fan which is not enough. Also, There is not WI FI (which wasn’t a big deal for us.). Also for a couple, you will only be given one towel and if you don’t want to share it (I love my husband but prefer my own towel) you need to ask for 2nd towel. Pretty strange. I cannot say that hotel stuff is the friendliest. I asked for a tea one morning and was pretty much marched out from the reception with very uncomfortable NO! No tea!!! There is a liquor store in the hotel which is handy if you want a beer after a day of exploring. Lucky is a nice host but for the 70 usd we paid for 2 nights in “Homestay” (inc dinner for 2 ppl and 2 beers) you can definitely find places with hot shower, internet, AC and 2 beers. And eat delicious meal in a local restaurant for 5 bucks pp.

I can't properly rate the accommodation because it was under reconstruction. We stayed in the hotel room at Lucky's uncle's instead, and we were satisfied with it. Lucky took good care of us.
