Star Eyes

One of the best hostels I have stayed at in Sri Lanka. The place is new so everything is really clean and it’s so nice to stay here. The host is always smiling, taking time to speak with you and giving really good recommendations. You can rent bikes or scooters with him which is great. It is in a little street behind the Main Street so very quiet and still very close to jungle beach (15min walk, 5min scooter). We had a rice and curry night where I could invite some friends, the food was amazing, the price was very affordable and we had a really great time all together. I stayed here 3 nights but would have stayed longer if I didn’t have my flight. I really recommend this hostel.

It's a new opened hostel with an owner who has lots of experience in hospitality. It is nice and clean and has a restaurant within.

Had a wonderful 2 night stay in the private room. It’s a beautiful old villa with plenty of space inside and outside to relax. The place is very clean and Ishan and his family were wonderful hosts. The breakfast was delicious and Ishan also has a bicycle and scooter for rent, which is handy. The hostel is close to gorgeous Jungle Beach and the City Centre is not too far away.

The star eyes hostel it’s an amazing place to stay in Weligama. It’s a big villa, very clean and peaceful. A good place relax after a long day. Has also a cafe shop and a many places to hang out in. Ishan the manager it’s a great guy, helping you if you need anything. Overall a great experience.

Everything the reviews say about Ishan and his father are true, they make staying here such a wonderful experience. They are both incredibly kind and helpful and willing to do whatever to make your stay in Weligama a good one. The hostel is super clean and while it is a short walk into town I loved its quiet location and the ease to get to smaller, less populated beaches like jungle beach. I was only able to stay 2 nights but I would happily return. I highly recommend staying at Star Eyes!

I booked a private room and while I did have a private bathroom it wasn’t an en-suite, it was located outside the room. That wasn’t an issue for me but it might be for others.

The hostel is a hidden gem!! It's located a bit outside of the hustle and bustle of Weligama, which makes it the perfect place. Initially, I booked one night but ended up staying for a week. If I didn't have my flight, I would have definitely stayed longer. The hostel is super new, clean, the vibe is amazing and you immediately feel like home. The outside area is perfect for some yoga, workout or meditation. The common area is amazing to chill with others, play some carrom and enjoy some guitar jams together. Ishan and his father are amazing hosts and do anything in their power for guests to have a great stay. You get a towel for free, there is a laundry service, you can rent a bicycle, scooter, have breakfast, lunch and dinner, order fresh juices, great coffee or cocktails for a good price. Ishan also organizes social activities like dinners for everyone, karaoke and bar nights and so much more. The beds are really comfortable, the rooms and bathrooms very clean. Upstairs, there is a huge terrace where you can hang your wet clothes, take a sunbath or just relax. There are also big lockers available and the wifi is super good. The beach is near the hostel, you can surf, relax and watch the sunset there. So, if you're visiting Weligama, this is your place to be! Thanks for everything, Ishan!

Staying at the Star Eyes Hostel was nothing but an absolute pleasant and positive experience! The hostel is conveniently located on the westside of the town and is in walking distance (3 minutes) to the Fisherman's Pier/Dock, a perfect spot to view sunrise/set and get just-out-of-water seafood daily.  It takes a leisure 20 minute walk to the town center, along the shaded beach strip, with the scenic ocean views and through varied commerical stands (selling foods and drinks as well renting surfboards).  Alternatively, one can take the frequent buses (2 minutes' walk and 3 minutes' ride) or a tuk-tuk to the town center.  My favorite spot is an idyllic secret beach north of the pier where I had daily sunrise/set swims often by myself.  In addition, there are small grocery stores in walking distance from the hostel selling drinks, snacks and fruits. The hostel is extremely well managed with: 1/ manicured plants and lawns around its compound; 2/ a large porch with 5 tables for meals, relaxation and work; 3/ a spacious dinning, lounging and entertaining room; 4/ a fully equipped kitchen. The single-occupancy room I stayed has its own bath room. What makes Star Eyes Hostel uniquely special is its hosts: ISHAN and HIS FATHER, possibly the kindest and most hospitable people among the many wonderful folks in town.  Ishan was super friendly, highly efficient and rich of local knowledge.  He corresponded with me pre, during and post my visit via WhatsApp and in person to ensure things were taken care of promptly.  In addition, he offered the rides for arrival and departure and to some local spots on his motorbike. Ishan's dad managed the property to make it spotless and conducive.  Most importantly, his smile along with his caring and avuncular demeanor evoked the at home and soothing feels.  The breakfast and dinner offered here were very filling and delicious.

A little paradise in the beautiful bay of Weligama! The hostel is super clean, the energy is great and the facility is really high quality! Like a little hotel with dorms! The food is great and clean! If you in Weligama and are looking for life quality and relax stay this is the place for you. Thank you Ishan for everything 🙏
