"Great location."

8.0

We enjoyed the location and breakfast in the morning.

The smaller bed doesn’t sleep 2 people very comfortably.

"Exceptional"

10.0

Cosy cottage, clean and tidy, well equipped, lovely patio area with the sun on it for most of the day! Lovely welcome basket. Easy check in/out. Car park was a short walk from property but you can pull up outside the property to unload so that isn't an issue, was just glad to have a secure place to park. Secure car park open 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, outside of these hours, there is a key fob to open the security gate. I stayed in the main bedroom and it was the comfiest mattress and pillows! Slept really well. Toilet downstairs but not an issue for me. Short walk to The Old Pudding Shop, lots of choice for breakfast 😋 will definitely stay again and highly recommend! Thank you Jemma and Nick!

Not a dislike as such but there is instructions in the guest information book about waste and how to sort general and recycling waste, the recycling boxes noted in the instructions were not at the property, only a General waste bin, messaged the owners to ask about this but no response, so had to put all waste that is recyclable in general waste, which I don't like doing. Where I live, I would get a fine if I put recyclable waste in with general waste so was worried the owners would get a fine but had no choice.

"Very good"

Quiet, yet central. Thoughtfully decorated and welcoming. Felt like a home

Banisters (perhaps a rope banister) are needed for the steep staircase. The property should have advised that toilet facilities were downstairs

"Great location but stairs and bathroom downstairs from bedrooms not ideal"

6.0

Location is great and heating good.

Breakfast was just OK - a very annoying thing was that breakfast provided excluded items on the full menu such as Smoked Salmon which could be had for an extra charge. This was crazy because the full breakfast provided was the same price as the Salmon option!!! Didn't like the bedrooms being upstairs and the bathroom at the back downstairs -if description on booking.com made this clear would have looked for another option. Good to have parking, but it was a little inconvenient - 5 minutes walk away.

"Beautiful cottage let down by heating issue."

5.0

A beautiful cottage in a fantastic location. The decor and furnishings in the property are tastefully done. Was spotlessly clean. The cottage has everything you need with soft towels provided too. Very helpful to have parking included albeit a short walk away. Luckily we were able to park up out the front on the main road and the lane behind to unload, but I could see this being a bit of a logistical juggle for some. Breakfast included at the old pudding shop. Friendly and helpful staff, good quality ingredients, however on both mornings we had breakfast it was cold, and I noticed this was a similar experience for others based on previous reviews The hosts had left a lovely hamper of beer, wine, bread, milk and Bakewell pudding. And a nespresso coffee machine with pods. This was an excellent touch.

However, we did have one fairly major problem that meant we couldn’t really relax in the evenings once our son was in bed. The radiator in bedroom 2 doesn’t seem to work. Other reviews reference this so I am not sure why it hasn’t been looked at. Unfortunately this was the room we used for our 3 year old son. The Welcome pack references instructions for how to use the heating system but we couldn’t find this anywhere. The problem is the radiators though. Interestingly the risk assessment completed 10/12/24 states all radiators can be adjusted by their thermostat. This didn’t work for bedroom 2, and several other radiators as it happens, most only heat half way up I Had some dialogue initially with the hose regarding the heating issue but then I was ignored which was bitterly disappointing. Didnt expect the host to do anything about it as we were already in the property, and they clearly hadn’t reviewed this issue from previous reviews, but they didn’t even acknowledge that they have an issue with the heating in the property, or offer any additional blankets etc - something they may need to include given the property is an old cottage that gets cold. Fortunately we just so happened to take our son’s quilt so he was warm with the use of the cottages bedding provided. The fact that I was ignored on this issue means that I can’t give any positive review which is a real shame given the cottage is great. Unfortunately my opinion is the hosts just didn’t seem bothered about this. The end result is the upstairs of this is freezing cold. Maybe not so bad with an adult but with a child this is not acceptable for the price paid and especially not when other people have highlighted the same issue. The hosts should look to have all radiators bled and have the whole central heating system rebalanced. Few other bits that the host or property agent might want to consider: - An outdoor light or one that works at the front would be very helpful.
