Mini's Residence

The owner was very friendly, hospitable and nice man. It was great to talk to him, he told us about their country, tradition and food. At the top of if he has a big interest in music, so it was very pleasant to listen and talk about it. He took us on a ride in his vintage cars !!!! We had lovely time !!!!!

What a wonderful stay! HIGHLY recommended, particularly if you're a music enthusiast. Staying at Mini's was one of the highlights of a 7 week trip. Such warm hosts, a real family vibe but with your own space. Thank you to my new friend Eranda and his mum and dad, and for the awesome shared musical experiences, the opportunity to meet his lovely friends, and our epic DJ'ing adventures!

Very clean, nice interior and amazing host

This is an outstanding homestay and the perfect choice for an enjoyable, peaceful stay in Colombo. Characterful Eranda, your amiable host (a music and vintage car aficionado), is conscientious and meticulous in his service. Along with his delightful mother and father, he welcomed me into his home like a returning friend. My homely en-suite room (deluxe double with balcony and separate entrance) was meticulously clean and well-appointed. It had a comfortable bed, mosquito net (which I did not need to use), a small fridge, a television, a hot water shower, a desk and chair and very efficient air conditioning. A reading light was provided instantly on request. Breakfasts were adequate, healthy and delicious. They included plentiful fresh fruit, varied delectable Sri Lankan breakfast staples and excellent coffee. For me, the location was perfect. I explored the busy capital cheaply by day (using tuk-tuks and the safe, reliable PickMe app) and then returned to my room in this quiet neighbourhood for a good night's sleep. Having previously stayed in a very noisy hotel in the Fort Area this was far more preferable. Mini’s Residence is a sanctuary; it is somewhere that feels safe, and it is somewhere that I would 100% return to again. If you are lucky enough, Eranda will take you for a spin in his pristine vintage Morris Minor convertible. Thank you for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay, Eranda and family!

Everything was good

Our host is an interesting person with great taste in music and a passion for vintage cars. His collection includes hundreds of original records from the '60s and '70s, some of which he even played for us on his record player. The breakfast he served was amazing, and the coffee—authentic Sri Lankan—was rich and flavorful. He's a knowledgeable person, and we had great conversations about music, politics, spirituality, and religion. We absolutely loved it! As I had very little time to see roam around Colombo, he even took me on a short trip on one of his vintage car to a truly authentic Sri Lankan spot in Colombo near the Independence square—a place where kind souls from Sri Lanka and around the world come together to meet, talk, and connect. There, I bought books, and in the company of talented musicians, we sang songs, sharing moments of joy and music, and also chatted a bit with other foreigners about countries and politics. Will always cherish his generosity.
