Mini's Residence

Nice location and room and the host was welcoming. The residence is in a plush locality in Colombo, so you sort of get the feel of the relatively richer parts of the city, which was nice. My room had a little garden outside, and it was lovely to just remove the curtains and take in some of that greenery through the glass door. Made Colombo heat slightly bearable. The room and the washroom were very clean too.

The Wi-Fi connectivity was very poor. I would not recommend the place to people traveling for work, because the internet pretty much did not work in my room at all. Breakfast options could be a little more diverse than traditional Sri Lankan food, which is slightly heavy in the morning and also a little too salty.

One of the little attractions of Colombo! Thanks to Erando and his family for the warm welcome and the amazing vintage atmosphere filled with cool music that breathes this place. The owner helped with all questions. The best option for your money!

One more adapter for the 220 euro socket was missing, but that's a minor detail. (Easy to get in a supermarket)

Amazing stay, economically friendly, kind and courteous workers, and delicious breakfast. Very clean and comfortable. You're a tuktuk ride away to the city centre, but far enough that you can explore the local and residential areas, shopping, and restaurants. Music collection is impressive, and the location has a lot of personality. Would love to come back to this residence when we visit Colombo again.

Very friendly owner, delicious Sri Lankan breakfast. We were staying one night but we could use the room the second day as well, leave our baggage and even take a shower after checking-out time before we were going to the airport which was extra helpful for us.

The main reason to stay at Mini’s Residence is cause of the host, Eranda. He is very kind, facilitating and helpful and speaks very good English, which is definitely not the case for most Sinhalese people. He was so kind to take me and my daughter along with him on numerous occasions. We went to the Independence Square with him for a nice walk in the park and he took us along to the organic market. He also made sure to cater to our needs for breakfast, which was a nice introduction to the Sinhalese cuisine for us. The room is quite basic, but has everything you need and even AC, which is quite nice when dealing with the Colombo heat.

I feel the place could do with some maintenance and little chores and tweaks here and there. For instance a bedside light (which I’m sure Eranda will take care of being the attentive host he is). The mattress is thin and very hard bed. There isn’t much to do in the area, but super easy and cheap to get to all the major sights by TukTuk and very cheap. Especially when using the Pick Me app.

Friendly host who showed us his record collection on vinyl. And his valve amplifier. He played a few songs too. Helpful with information on buses to the airport and taxis.

Didn't realize how far from Colombo Fort this place is which was important because we needed to go to the airport the next day. Found it hard to find using Google maps which misdirected us so had to call the host who guided us there.
