actually we were unable to take advantage of facilities as we are both disabled The drive was particularly difficult to negotiate, quite steep and no handrails. We had to use a taxis to get to Parish Church to attend concerts for the music festival. On last day waited in sitting room for 3 hours without one person offering us a drink or asking how we were, common courtesy I would think

Lovely staff and breakfast. Pool a nice feature and dog friendly too. Location right in centre bit quiet off road.

Fabulous, staff really welcoming on arrival, a free room upgrade and early check-in as the room was ready by 12. The room was very spacious, warm and comfortable and breakfast was really nice.

Wij verbleven hier één nacht voor ons eerste bezoek aan het Lake District. We waren erg blij met onze keuze! Het hotel is heel charmant en past qua sfeer erg goed thuis in de omgeving. Het bed was groot en comfortabel. Het personeel was zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Vooral de locatie beviel ons zeer goed; Ambleside is een leuk plaatsje met goede toeristische voorzieningen, horeca etc. En vanaf het hotel konden we een mooie hike doen. Ook de parkeerplaats was heel fijn. Wij hebben geen gebruik gemaakt van het zwembad, dus daar kan ik niet over oordelen.

"Generous" is the word we would use to describe this establishment. Breakfast, for example, is the best we have ever had in a B and B. Great choice of cereals, fruit, condiments; plenty of butter (in contrast to many places); a great cafetière of coffee and very well cooked food. The 9m by 4ft deep pool was a big bonus - a good enough size to get some serious exercise in. A stone's throw from the town centre with restaurants and cinema. A lovely old building with many original features making it cosy but well modernised bedrooms - warm and a well equipped bathroom. A great little stay.
