Perfect country cottage retreat!

The temperature was a lot colder than we would have liked

The stunning setting, character and personality of the house, comfortable lounge with open fire, well equipped open plan kitchen diner with seating looking out on to the garden. Plenty of space indoors and out. House was really clean, mattresses all high quality, nice towels, welcome basket and chocs were a lovely surprise. Parking for 3 cars. Pre-stay communication excellent, timely and friendly.

While it wasn't a problem for us as an able bodied group, the age of the house meant lots of low ceilings, tilted stairs, slightly awkward shower space- not enough head height to stand up. We absolutely loved the opportunity to experience such an old house with all its quirks, but wouldn't recommend for anyone with mobility issues.

This was an idyllic country cottage. Low ceilings, exposed beams, open fires. Really relaxing space.

I had an overall amazing experience at this cottage. It was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated with tasteful accessories, and offered a warm, inviting atmosphere. The space was cozy yet spacious, making it perfect for relaxation. The peaceful surroundings added to the charm of the place, and I truly felt at home. The Christmas decorations were a lovely touch, adding to the festive spirit and making the stay even more special. A warm welcome awaited us upon arrival – fresh milk, butter, bread, a drink, and a sweet treat. That was such a nice gesture and really made us feel welcome from the start.

However, there were a few small drawbacks. The ceiling was quite low in certain areas, which could be a bit uncomfortable for taller individuals. The cottage also only had one shower, which might be inconvenient for larger groups. Additionally, it didn’t have any large bowls, making it a bit tricky for preparing and serving bigger meals. Despite these minor inconveniences, I would still highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and charming getaway. It's also conveniently close to London, so it's a great option for a peaceful retreat without being too far from the city.

A beautiful idyllic country home from home cottage. Perfect for a family with single bedrooms attached to two of the double rooms. We loved the quirky style and history visible in all corners of the cottage.

Obviously with any cottage you need to watch your head and your step a little bit this is to be expected with a grade II listed property. We loved it!
