"Sweet reprieve from normal life."

10.0

The position of the cottage couldn't have been better. It's just off the High Street so nice and quiet. It was very warm and cosy and I felt safe as a single woman. Great base for Avebury, Malmesbury etc.

Nothing to 'not like' but make sure you suss out the free car parking spaces of which there are many near to the property so you don't have to pay parking fees every day.

The property was comfortable, cosy and clean. I booked this stay for a work trip and was delighted to find on arrival, small touches like biscuits, tea and a small milk in the fridge and the heating already programmed to turn on in the early evening. Internet and phone signal were also surprisingly good in a town where this is not always the case (although Marlborough itself is lovely and well worth visiting). John was also incredibly helpful.

"All good!"

9.0

All good and nice welcoming touches

Bit of a narrow staircase, but what can you expect from an old character cottage! so that's really struggling to suggest something not perfect ...only mention it as some more elderly/infirm guests might find it a bit of a problem

"A perfect few days to relax. Would recommend. Value for money. Very happy with my choice of venue."

10.0

Central to Marlborough town and located 10 minutes from Avebury. Ideal for me. Clean, spacious, all I needed for a comfortable non pressured stay. Milk, tea, coffee all supplied. Plus many other items useful and to hand. Good extra facilities supplied. Hot powerful shower, comfy bed, everywhere felt fresh and clean. Quality towels, bedding, cleaning products etc made stay more enjoyable. Fully equipped kitchen. Quiet, quirky and I felt safe as solo woman traveller. John particularly helpful with local info and a warm friendly welcome. Always available if I needed advice.

Faultless. Everything I needed for a short carefree stay to relax and explore local areas.

"Great location, quirky but chilly at times"

8.0

Getting into the property was easy - we'd been the key box code and it was straightforward to get in. It's the perfect location to walk into Marlborough High Street and restaurants are literally around the corner. The cottage is quirky with exposed beams, and delightfully higgledy piggledy, with one set of stairs leading up to the bedroom and one to the bathroom. The bedroom is large and spacious, with more than enough storage space in huge wardrobes. The lounge area is a good size for watching TV, and eating dinner if you make it yourself. The kitchen is compact but more than enough for two with hob, oven, fridge and microwave, and all the utensils you need. The bathroom is up a steep flight of stairs which need care but it's an old cottage! The shower is great. Lots of other things that make it a place full of character, ideal for short breaks.

It was cold weather, as in freezing, and the rooms didn't really warm up as the radiators are only on at set times. Overnight it was cold so we were glad of extra blankets. Going for a toilet break in the middle of the night was an adventure down to the cold lounge and then up to the bathroom which was cold at that time. The lounge was not warm enough to sit in for too long and there was no way of making a fire in the fireplace. I guess the radiator/heating times would work ok in normal conditions, but it was really cold for the two nights we were there! Perhaps some extra portable radiators / fan heaters would help?

"Ideal for short town stay"

10.0

Great location. Obviously careful thought put into design and guests needs. Super helpful host. Really great ( if slightly quirky!) place to stay. Will return

Steep stairs to bathroom but this was well described when booked so not an issue.
