I like that this is a mixed use property that is home to many and provides lovely guest quarters for visitors. The full-time residents as well as the desk staff (kudos to Ms. Nicki) were kind and helpful. The Howard U neighborhood is home to a cross-section of the DC community, to include university students, working families, the elderly, and people living a more uncertain, transient life. It is a busy, active, and noisy neighborhood. It is why I enjoy visiting the “real” part of a city, rather than the insulated, isolated swath of resort style properties.

The desk staff were lovely, always cheerful and very helpful, the key code was sent to the wrong email (they had added a space) originally but soon sorted via whatsapp while I was in the taxi from the airport. I was obviously concerned when I turned on my phone to find that I was going to have to call someone for details as it was quite late! The apartment was large and bright. Well equipped. The showers were lovely, good pressure and nice and hot. Lots of interesting places to walk to, lots of bars and eateries in the area and about 45 minutes walk to the Capitol and museums. The metro is around the corner and a Giant Supermarket is about 10 minutes walk away.

The apartment is probably ready for a refresh, One of the beds was incredibly uncomfortable and the other bedroom whilst comfortable was brightly lit from the Howard Theatre all night, their light is not switched off until 6am. So neither couple got any quality sleep during our stay. The blinds do not block out any light. You need a mask and ear plugs if you expect to sleep. The main road is pretty busy all night, with ambulances and police car syrens a regular occurrence. The tumble dryer did not work, luckily we tested it before attempting to do our laundry. There were roadworks outside while we were there so it was very noisy. There was also a large concentration of vagrants outside and around the corner which made the area feel a little unsafe sometimes. The roof Terrace was not open to all as I was originally told, you need to book it, but the temp staff did not know how to do that so we did not get a chance to use it.

Location. Cool part of DC and easy access to public transport.

No coffee pour over, only a massive machine. No colander to drain water from pasta. No wooden spoons. No cutting board. Funky TV with ROKU, not able to watch basic sports like baseball or football.

The apartment is superb, well equipped, all equipment is functioning well, from dish wash machine to laundry machine and smart tv. We felt ourselves home away from home. The location is good, close to bus stop and train station to everywhere you want to go.

Well, the deposit of $300 to compensate possible damages is something I don’t understand. I booked the apartment from booking.com, I have been using booking.com for more than 10 years. This is the first time I had to pay a cash deposit to secure my booking. The money is no returned immediately after the check out. The customer need to wait for 7 working days for the reimbursement. Well, this is not comfortable at all. Apart from that, all good, super good, I mean!
