Holiday Inn Express South Lake Tahoe

Very clean, all the amenities I could want (microwave, coffee maker, mini-fridge, etc.), great hygiene products, plenty of towels, and a working a/c-heat unit! Location is perfect for walking around town without having to worry about parking; parking can be tight though so if you have a big truck, you may need to park in a non-covered spot. Parking is $10 per day (which I did not see mentioned when I booked, but it's not a biggie) and there is plenty but it's under the building and in between skinny poles. We parked our SUV in there, but my personal car would not have fit due to narrowness. Only bummer the whole time was that breakfast wasn't even started on our first morning there, a Friday, so at 7:15am, we had no coffee and nothing was out for grabs in the kitchen beyond a couple oranges, apples, and three brown bananas. We did find someone on staff to go in, but by then, it was too late and we had to leave. (I wouldn't call it a continental breakfast necessarily, mostly fruit, yogurt, and oatmeal packets. If you're hiking or traveling around, you'll need more.) We'd definitely stay there again though, we just got breakfast at the Driftwood each day, great stuff.

The hotel as rustic. The staff was very friendly. If you want the basics this is it. The price was reasonable.

We were here for 5 nights, the room was never cleaned. No clean sheets or towels brought, no trash removal. ‘Breakfast included’ is an understatement.

On the positive side the property is within walking distance of a beach, many good restaurants, shopping, and casinos. They are cat and do friendly and parking is plentiful. On the less positive side, the property is a bit run down. Rooms are clean but also dilapidated in some areas. For example my room had an updated bathroom but a very worn out carpet.

The rooms need a complete overall. They were dingy and dirty. The corners had dirt and dust in them, tile in the bathroom was disgusting, abd the walls were dirty. The patio attached to our room had litter all over and the cushions/outdoor furniture had not been cleaned off or tended to for a long time. The only positive was that the sheets were clean, and the beds were comfortable.

Check in staff was great polite and professional nothing bad to say about that. Hotel overall is DIRTY !!!!!! Room 278 was terrible , Nasty and unclean . Mold everywhere in the bathroom. Questionable stains on the carpets. Beds were comfy but this room smelled musty and moldy.

Location was perfect, you can walk all around to where everything was. The Inn itself made it homey

This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. There was rat poop in the bathroom. No amenities.
