The Market Hotel

Central location was good and the bed was comfortable - room was warm.

The bathroom radiator was broken so it was cold in the bathroom. Karaoke went on downstairs til 1 am so sleep was impossible until after then.

Bed comfy, staff very friendly, quiz night on the Wednesday when we stayed, hilarious. Bottled water in the room, much appreciated. Would recommend this hotel

Nothing really. Breakfast not available at the hotel, but plenty of cafes in town.

Location is fantastic. Very comfortable rooms with lots of nice touches. Great owner/staff. Very helpful and understanding.

Friday and Saturday nights are music nights until 12.30 and 1am. If you need peace and quiet on these days book somewhere else.

Very good location in the centre of town

Need to be aware that rooms are right above the pub - which - the night we were there had incredibly loud music playing from speakers. The pub at weekends is advertised as being open until 1.00 am. Thankfully it closed and music stopped at 11.45. The irony was the pub only had a handful of people present from around 9.30 - yet the music was being blasted from speakers from around this time until it closed.

The hotel is situated in the centre of Alton with a large public car park behind it and close to a large choice of bars, cafes and restaurants. It is also 15 minutes drive from Chawton House and Jane Austen House in Chawton. The staff are welcoming and friendly and the rooms are comfortable. Prices are reasonable and affordable too.

The room was right above the bar and a quite noisy event went on below us until about 11-15/11-30pm. Automated lights and pumps attached to the toilets meant a bit of excess noise and light when using toilet at night.
