The Stroud Hotel

Friendly staff, clean, tidy

I arrived at 14:40 very strict on check in time

Great convenient location. The hotel is situated right next to the train station which is pretty much in the town centre. Very hospitable, friendly and helpful staff. The hotel restaurant / pub has a very nice ambience with live music on Sundays. And the food is very good. Overall it’s a good hotel.

A couple of things would be good to improve are: The lighting in our room. I don’t know if it’s the same in the other rooms. There are bedside lights but you can’t turn them on individually. When you switch on the bedside lights. Both sides and the bright strip light above the headboard have to come on too. So you basically can’t have a small light on by your side of the bed without waking up the person you’re sharing the room with. Also our room’s sash window doesn’t stay up when you open it. It felt like perhaps the weights were missing. And some hooks in the bathroom would be good too. There’s nowhere to hang things. The lighting in the small restaurant nook could be nicer. Dimmer wall sconces would create a better atmosphere for the dining experience instead of the overhead lights.

Location was good as a base for exploring Cotswolds

Cleanliness in room was minimal as was public areas

Excellent location right beside the train station which made it very convenient for those without a car. Friendly staff, room was clean and tidy,

Room can get hot and stuffy during summer as room has no air conditioner,

Nice well-appointed room with everything you can expect from a modern hotel. Right next to the train station but with sufficient parking and very handy for the centre of Stroud

Ensure you put the exact address into your sat nav, not the postcode. It will take you to the wrong side of the train tracks
