Staff were superb from conversation to suggested visits & activities. Need a car - punkt! Relaxing by the pool one of the highlights, peaceful, tranquil, cooling off when too hot. We traveled to markets in Loule, Tavira & several more inaccessible beaches. Even a roman villa from 1AD, amazing. Great for exploring the region.

We booked two rooms, one for us (2 adults and a child) and one for our elderly parents. Unfortunately it’s not clear that the suites are 1km from the hotel. Up an extremely steep and narrow road that is pitch black at night. It means you’re 1km from the pool, from breakfast and from your family. We asked to be moved closer to look after our parents and this caused uproar. The Male receptionist was so incredibly rude and said we were lazy not wanting to walk (we’re marathon runners, we just wanted to be close to our 80 year old parents). He shouted so much, lost his temper, it was so unusual. Reading the reviews I’m more detail I realised it’s a common issue. We downgraded to be closer to our parents and he refused to refund any cost. The pool area is dangerous, broken tiles which our child cut himself on. It’s a shame as it could be lovely but with the rudest staff, terribly uncomfortable beds, old tired towels, nowhere to dry swimwear, broken sun beds, dangerous pool, it wasn’t a good experience. We went out every day and had a great time on the islands and exploring the area. Just felt so uncomfortable there. One staff member was nice.

Breakfast was, unfortunately, bellow what we expected.

This is a hotel to scape the crowds, which in August in the Algarve is very welcome. The setting is idylic. The rooms are spacious, clean and well air conditioned. The beds are comfortable. The hotel has a family feeling to it, the pool was very nice and never crowded. There were plenty of families and our daughter made friends with children who were staying there. The breakfast is very good and the petiscos (tapas) options for dinner are well prepared. The staff is very welcoming, accommodating and helpful. The recommendations by the managers (specially Joao) were incredibly on point and never disappointed.

The annex with the family suites is away from the main hotel. It is not too far, but it is a steep and narrow road, not really walkable with young children - specially in August heat. But that does mean it is very quiet up there at night. While the rooms are spacious, they could do with one or comfortable chairs (or a sofa), a new TV and wifi (there is wifi in the main hotel, but not on the family annex, at least when we visited) Bear in mind the hotel is 15 minute drive from anywhere, which I like but may be a consideration for others

We enjoyed the breakfast and the tapas at night. For both breakfast and tapas they use fresh products, very tasty! The place is very quiet, which was perfect. The yoga class was nice as well :)
