Cottage close to French Quarters

Landlord, location, & decor & layout.

Needs another window unit in the bedroom, & another TV in bedroom.

Convenient location near multiple restaurants and cafes, as well as short walk to French quarter, well-ventilated and very good AC. Clean, towels and kitchenware provided. While we didn’t use TV and pool table, it was a nice addition (though the 8 ball was missing). Good tap and shower water pressure. Comfortable bed. Hangers provided. Cute decoration.

Had to follow up with host multiple times to get access to the code. Neighborhood was a bit sketchy on Friday and Saturday, with potential drug deals taking place next to property. Poor sound insulation with neighboring house, resulting in poor sleep. Door lock wasn’t very secure, so we had to barricade the door with boxes for extra caution.

I liked that it was close to the French Quarter, so I did not have to drive far. It was also close to food options that were easily accessible by walking, which I preferred.

No matter where you go, there are going to be those homeless, weirdos. When I was trying to check out and leave, I had to go around a man who stopped in the middle of the road with his shopping cart, yelling profanity at me. As soon as I walked into the cottage, there was a strange odor from the guests' prior. I had last-minute changes and needed a place to stay on Friday, so I called the host to see if I could have the space on Friday or not. I just needed to know so I knew what my next steps were going to be. I have no idea who I spoke with the day before my trip, but I called to see if there was an option to have the place on Friday, and I could pay the difference. I was originally told yes. I called back on Friday to verify if that was still true, and I was told hours later that it was not the case, and I had to book elsewhere. When I arrived at the cottage on Saturday and called for the directions to get in, I was in the middle of asking a question about something else, and immediately the host hung up. I will not be staying at this cottage for future trips.

We did have a small ant problem and it definitely needed some trash bags stored under a cabinet we only had the 1 for our trip. Also oddly there were not pots to cook in just lids. Lol
