"Very convenient and comfortable place to stay while attending a family event."

9.0

Beautiful little property with character, close to a railway line, but not noisy. Very handy for the bus into York, and in a lovely area with access to countryside walks. Very clean and comfortable, and the host obliged me by rinsing the bed linen in clean water before my arrival (I have allergies to the perfumes in fabric conditioner etc). He also put up with my non-use of WhatsApp (for those like me in their Golden Years who find the technology challenging!!!) I found the cricketing memorabilia intriguing, as my father was a keen supporter of Yorkshire cricket!

This is a very minor point, but most hire properties have a file with instructions about how to operate the various appliances, the heating etc. The only file I could find was for bus timetables (which was helpful), but I found the fancy multi-function microwave a bit of a challenge without instructions! (I survived, just cooked everything on de-frost :-) !!) Perhaps all the instructions were online somewhere, but please remember, not all of us live our lives on smartphones!

"Ideal base for visiting York city centre with regular bus connections."

9.0

Location is unusual, behind a former railway crossing gateman's cottage. Ideal for visiting York - 1 minute walk from bus stop. Very airy and bright interior on 2 levels.

View is not very scenic. Few facilities within easy walking distance - need to drive to Haxby village where parking is not difficult.

"Comfy bed, cosy cottage!"

9.0

Excellent location - walkable into the lovely village of Haxby - and right next to a bus stop for trips into York. The crumpets and jam on arrival were welcome!

Be aware that it's right next to the railway line - though trains didn't run throughout the night.

"Gorgeous little converted barn just outside of York"

10.0

Gorgeous little converted barn just outside of York, with a short walk into Haxby. There is a bus stop that goes straight into York right outside the accomodation. A lovely place to stay, great linen and comfy bed! There was great kitchen appliances like a coffee machine/ air fryer, well furnished and finished throughout with a great enclosed south/ west facing garden.

The barn is just off the main road and close to the train tracks so there is traffic noise. The trains do not run throughout the night. Additionally when approaching the home by car, the entrance is tight. The owners however, were sure to provide directions and let us know to come in from the north of the property prior to our arrival.

"Excellent Accommodation for Visit to York"

10.0

2 night stay to visit York. The Barn was in a great location, just off the ring road to the north of York, with Rawcliffe Park & Ride 5 minutes drive away. The Barn was welcoming, stylishly decorated & very comfortable. We had everything we needed and more. Really appreciated the food essentials like bread, butter & milk that was left for us. And also shampoo, conditioner & body wash in the bathroom. 2 dressing gowns in bedroom were a lovely touch also. Kitchen had everything we would have needed if we'd been cooking, but we ate out. Air fryer was a nice bonus. Bed very comfy. Heating easy to adjust. Nice to have log burner, just the mild weather meant just not cold enough to use. The Barn is next to a rail line, but it did not disturb us at all. Just a low swoosh as train went past at speed. Owner was quick to reply to any messages. Overall, great stay & superb value.

Nothing.
