The Barn

Spacious homely accommodation. Larger than it appeared in the photos. Safe off road private parking. 3 outdoor seating areas enabled us to catch the sun at all times. Super quiet location a couple of miles outside the interesting, bustling town of Romsey. Close to NT Mottisfont, nature reserves and Howard Hillier gardens

The Barn was a wonderful place to stay in. A lovely setting with outstanding comforts and excellent hosts who were very friendly and helpful. It was a very quiet and peaceful location on the outskirts of a village. The place was very clean and tidy and we immediately felt at home. Hugo and Claire were fantastic hosts and allowed us to wander around their wonderful garden chatting about plants and flowers with a mutual interest. A better place to stay would be impossible to find. First class in every way. We were so grateful to have been able to stay in such a lovely restful location.

Absolutely Nothing!!

Superb location, close to various places to visit, peaceful and quiet countryside . Spacious property, clean , everything you need for your stay. Great outside space to sit and enjoy the bird song. Owners are on site , respect your privacy but around should you need them. Tastefully decorated. Many local pubs , close to Romsey and surrounding areas. 5 minutes from Harold Hillier gardens , 10 mins to Mottisfont NT.

There was nothing to dislike . If I had to find anything then the mattress was a bit soft for us but that’s just a personal preference. Plenty of spare pillows, sheets, towels.

Hugo was very pleasant and accommodating. We arrived around 6.30pm and he met us to give us the keys. First impressions were brilliant. Immaculately clean and tidy. Fridge freezer - immaculate! Oven and hob - immaculate! There was also a dishwasher and washing machine which was also immaculate. The bathroom was pristine! Bedding and towels were spotless! Not one bit of dust anywhere! Underfloor heating in the living area and radiators else where. Property was warm on arrival. Very lovely outlook over the garden, and was lovely and quiet. Mattress was bouncy and on the soft side, which was pleasant.

The ONLY thing I can possibly mention is that the kettle and shower looked like it had been de scaled before arrival and it left a white residue inside the kettle and over the shower head. We dont drink hot drinks so didnt use the kettle and the shower head was easily rinsed off when used.

We had a wonderful weekend in The Barn. It's such a special place, and Clare is a charming host. We had a great Indian meal at The Dog & Crook which is a 15 min walk away and a drink at The Wheatsheaf, a 5 min walk. Both good village pubs. The bluebell woods are also very lovely for a walk, just up from the pond. We also had a very pleasant morning mooching around nearby Romsey and an amazing Sunday lunch at Fleur de Lys in The New Forest. All in all a great weekend break which I'm recommending to everyone! :)

Nice quiet location. Beautifully decorated property, that was very snug. Nice sitting areas on both side of the property, if you get the right weather. Some lovely walks and footpaths (The Monarch Way goes just past the property) directly from the door. Two nice pubs within walking distance in the village, and a small shop/cafe as well. Also some nice pubs within a short driving distance (Bear and Ragged Staff, The Duke on the Test). Our host was very helpful and showed us around her beautiful garden. Her pet Corgi was also lovely .....

No real issues with the property, except a minor one that we have had with all properties, bar one, that we have ever rented. The higher cupboards in the kitchen are difficult for shorter people to reach (my wife is 5ft tall). A small folding step in the kitchen would be really helpful.
