Royal Hideaway Playacar All-Inclusive Adults Only Resort

The location in Playacar was really nice. The water was clear blue and beautiful, there were two pools, gazebos, and lovely grounds, and rooms. The people who worked there were really great, Sandra, Gabriela and pretty much everyone was really helpful and kind. The food was really good. For reservations, I'd recommend calling a week ahead and making them. We were able to switch some of our reservations. For activities they had everything from painting and cocktail classes to live bands and scuba demonstrations. Highly recommended

The one thing I'd definitely recommend is to always negotiate your taxi rate before even sitting down in the taxi. Otherwise, you will likely get taken advantage of when the driver comes up with an arbitrary rate as soon as the ride is over. Playacar is pretty blocked off from getting around except for taxi and on foot/bike (no Uber), so if you can get consistent and fair rates on the cabs, that'd make the trip great.

The garden and beachfront location

The hotel worn out, furniture very dated. The food is not of high quality.

Great staff. Bartenders were very good. Maid service was very good. Options for dining were good and the food was excellent.

We have traveled with Club Med in the past. A monitor in a common area with the daily activities would be helpful. You may have been able to access a list via your phone, but part of my vacation plan was to NOT be on my phone as much. Check in had limited information to give out or there was a language barrier and we didn't ask the right questions or obtain the right information. Appeared to need pickleball paddles and balls. We brought our own, but did not see any others. The chairs at the main and spa pools were very comfortable, but the beach chairs and the chairs at the other pools were hard on the back.

Sushi resturant hostess rude. Hotel is rough around the edges, would not recommend its old and dated. Overpriced for what it is.

Breakfast buffet was good. Had lots of options. I think the food was mixed in quality. Some restaurants were very good like the Italian one. The three courses were all very good. The Spices restaurant needs work on that menu.

As stated above. I a very good cook and hoped to have very high quality of meals. I would not give it a 10 on all restaurants except the Italian.
