ZAThe location of this property is fantastic. The views are stunning!!! The Spa and Wellness Centre is probably world class - Mpho gives a fantastic massage - and it offers everything a spa possibly could. Supper was very tasty. The layout of the property is also fun with lots of pathways leading to various spaces where you could have a braai or a meeting or just sit etc. As a wedding/function venue - this lodge has huge potential.
There was no fridge in our room so we could not keep anything cold - the weather was quite hot and the ice provided from reception melted very quickly. There was a water jug, but no water in it. There was a shampoo and soap dispenser in the shower, but it was empty. There was a an outside bath, but it hadn't been cleaned and when I asked for something to clean it with I was actually allowed to clean it myself. The toilet paper was probably the cheapest available. There was a TV with only 2 snowy channels - I'm not even sure what they were - so we couldn't watch TV. There was an air conditioner, but is wasn't very effective. Ricoffy sachets were provided in the room and very weak filter coffee in the breakfast parlor - in the current 'Coffee Age' I'm sure better quality coffee in the rooms and a decent coffee machine in the parlor could be considered. Our toast was made about 15 minutes before our breakfast arrived so it was cold and tough, otherwise the breakfast was very nice. The miniature salt grinder on the table was broken. I've heard since our stay that the lodge is under new ownership. I sincerely hope the new owners pay some attention to the reviews as almost everything I have just stated has been noted in previous reviews. The layout and location of this lodge has huge potential - it's the very easy-to-fix, finer details that need attention.
