The Snug

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our stay at The Snug in Matlock was perfect from start to finish. The property is cozy and beautifully decorated, rustic and vintage totally my vibe! creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The location is excellent — right in the heart of Matlock, with a wide choice of restaurants and bars nearby, as well as lovely walks just a short distance away. It’s also incredibly dog-friendly, with thoughtful touches such as treats for our pup and even crumpets for us after some lovely walks. These little details really made the stay feel special. The hosts were very responsive and made everything easy and stress-free. We highly recommend The Snug to anyone looking for a comfortable, welcoming, and well-located place to stay in Matlock.

It was quirky and spacious with facilities that suited us as a family. It was a perfect base to explore Matlock and the surrounding areas. The time and care that had gone into the design and making of the property was obvious. Most of the fixtures and fittings were bespoke and this, added to the history of the property gave an extra dimension to our stay. We loved being able to prepare food and having extra space that you don’t get in a hotel room when you have a family. The bath/shower facilities were hardly an inconvenience as it was just a short, undercover hop across the very small courtyard and they were very clean and heated. If you are a hardened camper then thus would be classed as absolute luxury.

Despite The Snug being nice a cool it would of been nice to have windows that opened and the shower door didn't quite shut properly.

A roomy property in a rustic meets industrial design. Unfortunately the property is on road which meant we got quite a bit of traffic noise. Also the fact that the toilet and shower are outside the bedroom/living room area was a bit inconvenient. That being said the entire unit was clean and well appointed.

The beds were very comfortable, the twinkling fairy lights magical and the overall look of the accommodation. The heaters came on in the toilet at night which even though it was Summer we appreciated. It was a very well thought out space in general.

I think more should be noted in description about the hill it’s on as people with mobility issues like myself would struggle. We had to Uber up and down although the owner did kindly offer to take us. Also description should state that the toilet is outside which we ended up not minding as it wasn’t cold or raining and it was lit up with pretty fairy lights. The room wasn’t dark enough at night due to the green fire exit light and the double bed was next to a door that led to their venue which was locked with a bolt but did cause my partner anxiety (as they didn’t feel as secure) and wouldn’t be great for a romantic night away if you know what I mean. The road traffic was quite loud as the beds are on the wall next to the road… this didn’t bother us but may bother others.
