simple but functional

dinner is a ripoff. Breakfast & dinner are too westernized.

Clean room with helpful and polite staff. Breakfast provided was also superb. Easy access to Ski slopes with free shuttle services, and Happo-One Kokusai lift within a somewhat walking distance, about 15min. Hotel location is nice and quiet, but slightly away from the centre, about a 20 mins walk uphill. Hotel staff were really helpful when I had troubles with my card/ski equipment - greatly appreciated it.

While Phoenix hotel was good, it doesn't have the authentic Japanese experience that a traditional ryokan could provide - for example, the in-house restaurant MiMi, whilst serving delicious french fine-dining cuisine, isn't something I'd like to have in Japan of all places. And sadly, during new year period the in-house restaurant, as well as most restaurants in the vicinity were fully booked - which means sourcing for dinner was a real challenge. As I usually stay in traditional ryokans with half-board, the difficulty of finding food was completely unexpected. I was also quite uncomfortable with the location of the bathroom - japanese style onsen, located behind the restaurant and kitchen, and closes at 10pm. This meant that I had to walk past the dining crowd and kitchen staff in my Yukata (bathrobe), which is usually not an issue in a Japanese inn, but in a clearly western-styled hotel, many caucasian diners were definitely giving strange looks since they are likely not used to it. Perhaps the hotel should consider extending the closing time to 2am, so that guests can comfortably go for showers after the dining crowd departs.

Visited from Dec. 26th to Dec. 28th (before the peak season began). Operates shuttles to Goryu/Hakuba47 and Happo-one in the morning at 8am and 9am and back to the hotel at 3pm and 4pm. Picked us up at the Happo Terminal at check in and gave us a ride back at check out. Phoenix provided shuttle rides to nearby places in the evening at request. Extremely friendly staffs and great service. Breakfast was great! Highly recommended. Walking distance from Lawson, rental shops (Rhythm Hakuba), and other restaurants.

Great little hotel. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Good amenities and comfy futons (we had the superior triple room). Mimi’s restaurant is amazing. The in-house Onsen is great as well - definitely give that a go!

Had a great week here at the Phoenix hotel in hakuba. Staff very friendly and Is managed by an Australian couple The hotel restaurant is very good. Worth trying the bear, wild boar and venison pie!!

Clean and comfortable room. Hotel staff offered to pick us up and drop us off at the bus terminal when we arrived/departed. They also have a shuttle to the ski slopes each morning. Breakfast included is very good. Restaurant looks very nice for dinner also, but they were booked out during our stay (you'll have to book ahead if you want to eat there). Hotel also has an onsen which is great for relaxing after skiing. Location is a bit far from the main areas for dinner, so if you are looking to go out in the evening then you will have to time it with the local shuttle bus which has a stop at the next hotel (less than five minutes walk away).
