The Lodges at Craigendarroch Country Club

The size of it and location. It had everything you needed.

The musty smell when you first entered the premises. It seemed to go after a few times of entering.

Loved this place. Yes its 70's decor but it was a very comfortable, quiet, spacious, every you'd want is there. Great size bathroom, good lighting, Walk into Ballater, Gorgeous surrounds.

The only thing was to have pay for electricity upon checkout. We stayed 2 nights. As we checked out early, they couldn't advise how much the electricity was as they read the metre at 9am. So we left knowing we were going to be charged but not knowing how much. We were ultimately charged 19 pounds which was reasonable. If not for the power, they would get a perfect score. Whilst we didn't use them, the gym and pool looked great. We stayed 2 nights but could easily stay for a week.

The heating in the room. On arrival it was freezing not possible to put on the heating. A technician came to put it on for us the following morning but that evening it was impossible to turn it off as it is radio controlled so with 27 degrees we had to sleep with the windows and doors open. We were charged on our check out for a 16 pound electricity bill so obviously the heating working all night increased this bill as we did not use the cooker or microwave just lights. Also the room was very dark

The lodge was comfortable and well equipped.

My precooked spa treatment was cancelled at short notice and I was unable to secure an alternative given the short notice.

Apartment was very clean and well equipped for a short stay in Ballater. Quiet location within the lovely grounds, but close to the hotel and its amenities. Village centre about 10 minutes walk.
