Single room with beautiful garden

It's hard to "rate" a stay that has felt like being part of a family. I left "home" after a delicious, freshly-cooked breakfast and a nice chat with Karen and/or John, took the number 16 bus into downton Edinburgh and arrived "home" in the late afternoon. The bus ride to Princess Street takes approximately 35 minutes, but it's worh it since I enjoyed staying in a quiet suburb and I felt like a "real" inhabitant. On top of that, getting on the bus is easy, since the bus stop is right down the street, the bus arrives multiple times an hour, the journey is safe and enjoyable and buying tickets is easy when you use "Bus and Tram Edinburgh" app. I recommend a 30 minute walk from Oxgangs Green through the beautiful Braidburn Valley Park into Morningside , where you can find a big variety of restaurants, supermarkets and cute little stores. The room itself was really cozy, well heated and clean. I liked the storage space which I had for my suitcase and the comfortable small sofa. The rainshower in my very own large and clean bathroom worked wonders after a long day of hiking and exploring. I can't thank Karen and John enough for all the nice little and long chats I had with them and for the extra care they showed in order to see that I was doing okay. If you like living like a "real" Scottish person and not like a tourist in a hotel in busy and loud downtown Edinburgh, this is the place to be.

There's nothing which applies to me since I give this place a ten. Nevertheless, if you want an en-suite bathroom, a location downtown and/or if you don't like private contact to the owners, then you shouldn't book this accomodation. I think it's fair to mention that since I don't want any bad reviews for Karen and John due to people who didn't know beforehand :-).

Ich hatte eine sehr schöne Zeit bei Karen und John, die beiden sind die perfekten Gastgeber. Karen hat mich mit Essen und Tee verwöhnt und John war wie mein privater Reiseführer. Ich habe mich während meines Aufenthalts mehr als wohl gefühlt. Ich kam mir vor als wäre ich ein Teil der Familie und nicht nur ein Gast. Das Zimmer und das Bad waren sehr sauber. Im Zimmer stand eine kleiner Tisch mit Tee, Keksen und Wasserkocher für mich bereit. In der Nähe der Unterkunft befinden sich die Bushaltestellen, mit der 18er Linie kommt man zum Flughafen und mit der Linie 16 kommt man ganz einfach in die Innenstadt. Ich hatte eine wunderschöne Zeit hier und komme gerne wieder :)

Traveling for work and was met by such lovely hosts who couldn’t have done more to make me feel at home. Really comfy bedroom with everything you could need, fantastic bathroom and all very clean. I didn’t realise I also got the yummiest breakfast included. And for those who are missing their furry friends there is the gentlest dog for cuddles. Thank you so much for having me and I will see you again next month.

A cozy room perfect for a solo traveler. Karen, the host, was amazing and welcoming. Loved my short stopover there.

Karen & John are fantastic! They are very kind people, the house is very nice and the room very clean and comfortable. Karen's breakfast was really tasty and her lovely dog Toby my new friend! They helped me with all my questions or concerns about buses an gave information about places to visit. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience in your company!

Despite having such a short stay I felt right at home. The room was cozy, and the hosts were so very welcoming and helpful. There is a close bus stop with great service, so I could quickly get to the city centre. This stay definitely made my trip so much more lovely, and left me wishing to come back and see more of the city. Thank you so much Karen and John (Eduardo)

Karen and John were just fantastic, exceptional.

No bad point at all.

Karen is an exceptional host. She is generous, empathetic and caring. I appreciated the tasty breakfast, the peaceful surroundings and the modern bathroom. It was nice to retreat home after sightseeing. I enjoyed meeting Karen’s family, dog and guinea pigs.
