気さくなご主人の対応。 食事の提供はなく、持ち込みとの事でしたが、玄米ご飯や旬のたけのこの煮物など地元産の美味しい朝食をいただきました。 ノープランだったので、お勧めスポットを教えていただき大自然を満喫し、良い時間が過ごせました。急遽予約しましたが、宿泊して良かったです。

This was definitely my best booking.com-stay so far. Big Bear is an amazing host and went above and beyond! I was staying at the lodge alone and we really hit it off, and even shared his delicious dinner and breakfast and went to Hijiri lake together. Big Bear speaks pretty good English, is friendly and knowledgeable across many topics. I liked the easter-eggs about Japanese culture in his lodge - from Shinto-Shrine- to Onsen-etiquette, a functioning vintage amp and overall beautifully thought-out interior design. I slept well listening to the soothing sound of the stream outside. Also he was even calling the construction workers inside Sandankyo to ask if the path was accessible for hikers. That way I could hike until Sandandaki even though there were some path blocks (could have gone until Hijiri lake as it doesn't take the time it says online - if you're used to hiking, you'll be faster! But decided for a swim in the beautiful water as there was nobody around). The location of the lodge is great. Short walk from the bus station, Sandankyo entrance and the village's shrine (please check it out!). Big Bear, Shin, thank you for everything :) I missed you as soon as I hopped on the bus to Hiroshima. You'll be in my heart forever.

Big Bear is een super host, die je op een persoonlijke manier behandelt en ervoor zorgt dat alles zo goed mogelijk voor je geregeld wordt. Zo reed hij ons naar het restaurant in het volgende dorp en gaf ons een fles sake mee. Het restaurant Manpuku Shokudo is ook een aanrader, heel lekker eten dat maar blijft komen, voor weinig geld. De bedden bij Big Bear zijn zeer comfortabel en de badkamer en toiletten zijn heel schoon. Het huis is maar 5 minuten rijden van het begin van de prachtige wandeling door de kloof, 2 uur retour. We hebben fantastisch geslapen. Wij raden Alaskan Dream met heel ons hart aan!

November was a great time to visit and enjoy the autumn leaves. Big bear is generous host - from picking us up in the rain, snacks for our hike to helpful travel tips. Really enjoyed the local restaurant Osorakan which had great price and Characters with so much food.

Big Bear war einer der nettesten Hosts überhaupt. Er hat uns tolle Wandertipps gegeben und uns sogar zum Eingangspunkt gefahren. Da es unser Abreisetag war hat er unser Gepäck dann 3 Stunden später noch nach gebracht zur Bushaltestelle und es hat alles super funktioniert. Die Unterkunft ist sauber, schön eingerichtet und liegt richtig Idyllisch im kleinen Dorf. Wir sind mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln angereist und das ging problemlos. Es gibt ein Restaurant mit dem Auto so 10 Minuten entfernt, auch hier hat uns Big Bear hingefahren. Morgens gab es sogar noch ein kleines selbstgemachtes Frühstück. Alles in allem unser schönster Aufenthalt in Japan!! Big Bear ist wirklich ein toller Mensch mit welchem wir schöne Gespräche geführt haben.

Nous avons adoré la gentillesse du propriétaire qui a été aux petits soins pour nous dès le moment de notre arrivée jusqu’à notre départ. Il est venu nous chercher à l’arrêt de bus, nous a déposé à l’entrée des gorges et le lendemain il nous a conduit en voiture jusqu’à une montagne pour faire une autre randonnée, il est même venu nous déposer nos bagages à l’arrêt de bus pour notre départ, juste adorable!! La maison est super bien entretenue et décorée, les lits et les draps sont super conforts. Si vous voulez y accéder en bus depuis Hiroshima c’est tout à fait possible et très facile.

Comme nous sommes venus en bus, le problème c’est que nous dépendions à chaque fois du propriétaire pour nos déplacements, et cela nous gênait de le déranger à chaque fois, même si c’est toujours lui qui nous a proposé avec le sourire. Il n’y a pas de supermarché ou de restaurants à proximité donc il faudra prévoir avec vous quelques courses (nous avions pris notre lunch box et notre petit déjeuner car le petit déjeuner n’est pas prévu dans la guest house).

We highly recommend this place, especially because the host goes above and beyond. He helps with transport and other practicalities and has a great movie selection when you are tired after your hike along the gorge. The place is clean and cozy and there is a very nice bath room with a big tub for relaxing.

Big Bear, our host, looked after us extremely well. He helped us with information about walking the trail. He also helped making a reservation at a local restaurant, Manpuku Shokudo, where we enjoyed great food and hospitality. And he ensured we got there and back safely.
