The only reason is we have been coming to stay here for 13 years so the location is why

As stated about we have been coming here for 13 years but it’s changed so much it was very different this time

Zimmer sehr groß und sehr schön

Sauberkeit im ganzen Hotel war nicht schlecht, Frühstücksraum und Aufzug waren dreckig, Zimmerreinigung musste man per App buchen, Parkplatz nur über App buchbar, Frühstück war nicht wie erwartet, Preis für die gebotene Leistung zu hoch, Personal nicht freundlich, Tische wurden nicht abgeräumt, Liege/Handtücher für den Pool musste extra bezahlt werden

Very poor management, dirty room, no housekeeping after request, bar staff rude behaviour, swimming pool water is dirty, no proper management. Broken fan they give me on this heat wave time. They can't give me a solution during my 4 nights stay. The reception just said the new management not organised at all that's why the situation is like this.

Beachfront location with pool - only stay here if you want convenience for the beach or if you want to spend all your time on the beach and are less bothered about accommodation quality They have normal hotel stuff like ironing boards, tea and coffee

Sleep quality was poor due to: short curtains failing to block out enough light, car park noise, an uncomfortable mattress, and children being loud at various times above and to the sides of us. Of course, children will be loud - but the awful sound insulation is what I take issue with. The room was not otherwise very impressive. We were given an accessible room (I am glad they have these, but we did not request or require one). The bathroom was a semi-wet room with the sink over the shower/wet room half. The drainage was poor so when brushing teeth, washing hands etc you had to stand in a pool of water. Side note, many fixtures and fittings were also in fairly poor condition aesthetically speaking e.g a pipe-shaped stain on the ceiling Low level of service. The front desk staff were generally polite, but one took a personal phone call while serving. It isn’t their fault personally (imagine it’s hotel policy) but front desk seems very unable to help with any complaints or issues. Our toilet stopped flushing on the second day of our stay and they were unable to fix it until the day after (when we checked out so as far as I know it may not have been fixed until late in that day). This left me and my partner using the communal toilets of the hotel for the second half of our stay. For transparency, we raised this at 6PM on bank holiday Monday - but the lack of any out-of-hours maintenance at a reasonable hour like this is baffling to me. I find it deeply misleading, given all the above, that the Carlton is listed as a 4 star hotel here on Booking.com. Indeed, I said the same to a front desk staff member and she told me they had not been officially starred since 1998. I raised this to Booking.com after our stay, a week ago now, and have received no reply. This led me to read up on Booking.com’s starring practices - I recommend anyone using this site do the same. I will be sure to corroborate any star ratings they give with other sources in future
