Nongkhiaw The Float House

We loved everything about the property. It’s a wonderful location - out of the town but within easy walking distance. It’s so unique - right on the water. When boats go by, it gently rocks. We swam in the river and when we went by boat for kayaking or to visit muang ngoy, we were collected from our float house!! The staff were wonderful and looked after us so well.

Unlike other properties in town, which are on the riverfront, these bungalows are actually floating ON the water - a dip in the river is 5 seconds away from your bed. The rooms are spacious (king bed) and comfy, there's a tub in the bathroom and the little terrace is perfect for relaxing. There's a sliding door facing the river for amazing views from your bed. The property also has a nice restaurant (same nice river views) with good food and a very chill vibe. They also offer a shuttle (meaning - a car) to the bridge so you can avoid walking 15 mins on the dusty road. Overall - amazing chill and views, you can't ask for a more relaxing spot! Put a bottle of wine in the fridge and enjoy it!

Yes, there are minor maintenance and organization kinks to be worked on, but you're in rural Laos, not Lake Geneva - I found support and facilities to be adequate. Boats and kayakers pass you on the river so you'd want to draw your shades if you're walking around nude or are in the loo/shower. Most importantly (this is not related to the hotel but is very imporant): the shared minivans from Luang Prabang to Nong Khiaw are small, in bad shape and overcrowded. This, coupled with a road in terrible shape, combines for a horrendous 4.5h drive from/to LPB. If you can hire a private car, that will help a lot. Finally - if you have a major issue with seasickness, be mindful the houses do rock gently after boats pass.

Wirklich einzigartig direkt am Fluss, man kann Baden und es ist ein absolutes Erlebnis. Top eingerichtet.

Das Restaurant hatte abends eher nicht geöffnet, der Weg zum Ort ist recht weit, aber meist wurden wir gratis gebracht und abgeholt.

Le personnel : nonchalant, non souriant Ils ont fait un repas de famille un soir jusqu’à 23 h: ils criaient, riaient très bruyamment sans s’inquiéter du bien être de leurs clients qui essayaient de dormir Le lendemain matin, pas un mot d’excuse,pas un bonjour ni un sourire et une heure d’attente pour obtenir le petit déjeuner INACCEPTABLE
