Friwen Mangrove Eco Lodge

We had an absolutely wonderful stay in Friwen Mangrove Eco Lodge – this place is truly a slice of paradise. The bungalow is incredibly cozy, and the atmosphere is peaceful and serene. Rashid, the host, is one of the most caring and attentive people we’ve met – he made us feel completely at home. You can snorkel right from the doorstep of your bungalow, and honestly, even if you don’t go anywhere else, just being here is already magical. That said, it’s also a perfect base for exploring – Rashid has a boat and can take you to beautiful spots around the islands.

We had a truly wonderful and memorable time in this beautiful part of Raja Ampat. Our host went out of his way to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable, always being thoughtful and attentive. One of the highlights was a fantastic snorkeling day, during which our host spotted a manta ray, a turtle, and numerous large fish. What we appreciated most was the intimate and peaceful atmosphere of the place – with only two cabins currently operating, it felt both private and familiar. Also the house reef is very nice, so we could enjoy snorkeling just jumping into the water from bungalow. Lunch and dinner were also very delicious, I very much appreciated the ginger tee in the evening.

It wasn’t until our last day that we found out there were additional breakfast choices beyond the scrambled eggs…

A dream place! The room is built over the water with a view of the coral reef — just walk down four steps and dive straight into the sea! from the outside it may look like a simple homestay at first glance, but the room is wonderful — very spacious and equipped with every comfort: kettles, tea and coffee set, mosquito net, fans, plenty of power outlets, and an amazing sea view. The bathroom is also very nice and impeccably clean. Excellent breakfast and really tasty, varied food. Rachid and all the staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and welcoming. We also went on a day trip to the Blue River, which we really enjoyed. Communication was great even before our arrival, and they supported us with transportation. A true paradise — it was the best stay we had in Raja Ampat!

Sembra un paradosso, ma è forse l'unica struttura di tutta Raja Ampat che può darti la stessa accoglienza di una homestay, ma con le comodità di un resort. Rachid ha provato ad andarci incontro in tutto, e sia durante le gite che fornisce, sia stando in struttura, la vacanza sarà indimenticabile. Cucina buona.

Speriamo non si ingrandisca troppo presto, con due cottage aperti vi era l'alchimia perfetta.

Die Friwen Mangrove Eco Lodge in Raja Ampat war einfach fantastisch! Die Bungalows sind luxuriös und bieten einen tollen Blick und Zugang ins Meer. Rashid und Eka sind unglaublich gastfreundlich und haben unseren Aufenthalt unvergesslich gemacht. Es ist sehr persönlich, da sie jeden Abend mit uns am Tisch waren und wir plaudern konnten. Ein Highlight: Wir haben sogar Dugongs gesehen, und direkt vor unserem Bungalow schwammen Haie – ein einmaliges Erlebnis! Absolut empfehlenswert!

Luxuriöse, sehr ästhetische Villas. Klein, aber oho! Super nette Hosts, die auch fantastische Ausflüge anbieten. Unbedingt mit buchen! Ein Erlebnis! Sehr exquisite Küche!

Nous avons adoré la localisation, avec un joli jardin de corail au pied des bungalow, qui sont d’ailleurs très confortables et bien équipés ! Nous n’avons manqué de rien Mais surtout l immense gentillesse du personnel qui était au top ! Les repas étaient particulièrement délicieux ! Précisions : Il y’a 2 bungalows pour le moment , ce qui peut permettre de partager les excursions et de passer des moments conviviaux entre voyageurs et hôtes :) En terme de localisation c’est à 2h de piaynemo / Rufas Island / Manta Point 1h de la Blue river Le Friwen wall est juste en face

One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed at – exceeded all expectations! This homestay in Raja Ampat is an absolute gem. Even more stunning than the pictures – I was truly blown away. Incredible value for money. It’s ideally located, just about 30 minutes by speedboat from Waisai (a relatively affordable transfer at 400,000 IDR), yet it feels like a very remote paradise. Nestled in a very calm bay, the only thing you’ll see and hear are guests from the other two bungalows of Friwen Homestay – total serenity. The underwater world right in front of the bungalow is amazing, including access to Friwen Wall nearby – easily comparable to places like Misool. You can snorkel straight from your own bungalow terrace! What made the experience truly exceptional was the Dutch-Indonesian owner couple. From the personal pickup at the Waisai ferry with a private boat, to the welcome drink waiting on the terrace, to the delicious meals always served on time – everything was done with such care and friendliness. They go above and beyond to fulfill every wish. The bungalow itself was spotless, beautifully modern, with great sanitary facilities, a comfy bed, and a private bathroom. Highly recommended – this place is unforgettable.

We had the best time at Friwen Mangrove Eco Lodge! Rachid was a perfect host and very organised. We also can recommend the day tours with Rachid. The meals were also very delicious and varied every day. We will definitely come back to this little paradise!
