Spice Forest Plantation Homestay, Thekkady

This is an exceptional accommodation. Definitely come here if you want a place for deep relaxation, serenity, and connection to nature. The facilities are all new so the room and the bathroom is really nice and clean. The big balcony was my favorite part! I spent all my time here just reading or exercising because the views are amazing. What differentiates this place from all others is the hospitality of the staff. You feel so welcomed and taken care of. They took us swimming in a nearby natural lake, took us on a tour of the plantation which surrounds the home stay, and arranged all our tickets for Periyar national park, etc. They were truly precious and friendly people. The food is also extremely yummy :) It is tucked away from the main road - which in my opinion is worth it. Yes, you have to travel a bit further to get to places but the calmness and nature makes it 100% worth it. When you are coming for the first time message or call the host on WhatsApp and they will arrange a rickshaw from the main road to the property, since it was pretty bumpy road for the taxi we came in.

We had the best time at Spice Forest Plantation. The Homestay is surrounded by amazing nature that we could marvel at from our balcony or the outlook cabin. We also did a very informative tour of the plantation, which we enjoyed a lot. Everybody was very friendly and welcoming and helped with the questions we had. The food Francis prepared for us was just amazing. The rooms and bathrooms were very modern and clean. We really were able to rest and recharge our batteries during our stay. I really hope to come here again one day.

I was thoroughly impressed by the stay experience. The views from the hotel, overlooking the lush spice plantation, were breathtaking and truly one-of-a-kind. Waking up to the serene landscape each morning added so much peace to my stay. The hospitality was equally remarkable. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and went out of their way to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable visit. From seamless check-in to personalized service throughout my stay, their dedication to guest satisfaction was evident. Thank you, Francis and Subhash for making my stay memorable. I can’t wait to return and recommend this gem to others!

This place is outstanding I can’t say enough good things! Phenomenal food, best location I can imagine deep in a beautiful jungle forest. The interior of the rooms are so well done and modern! very cozy also! The views are stunning and the staff is beyond belief kind and helpful! I was blown away at how good of a stay we had!!!!

The views were amazing The room was very big, there was a lovely view from the balcony The shower was very hot and powerful the best so far on our trip The staff were very welcoming and made us a cup of lime tea on arrival. They organised a short walk around the plantation for us which allowed us to see tea, pepper and cardamom growing in the hills. The food was delicious, we had chilly chicken and rice for dinner. The filter coffee and banana fritters were the best we’d had in India so far. The staff organised a driver to take us to Munnar the next day. It would be useful to have some information about local sight seeing etc in the room so that you could organise something on arrival. The WiFi was good and reliable.

The access to the property was difficult for our taxi driver as the road was very rough in places and I was surprised that the taxi driver took us all the way without complaining. We had to request toilet paper. There were no hand towels, toiletries or soap in the bathroom -fortunately we had brought our own. When we came to pay they didn’t accept card payments as described on booking.com and we didn’t have the correct app on our phones to pay by scanning a QR code. This threw us and we ended up having to pay in cash, it wasn’t until the next morning we realised it was an app to download to arrange payment. This meant we were short of cash the next day so had to find an ATM when we arrived in Munnar. It all worked out ok in the end!

The location is very special. The service was also very good and th y went the extra mile to help with everything. Figo in particular was a pleasure to deal with. The food they cook is exceptional.
