The Saffron House

Wow, what an incredible place to stay! I cannot recommend Saffron House highly enough, you must stay here! Saffron house is a stunning property. It overlooks the ocean with uninterrupted views and is only a 2 minute walk to Hiriketiya beach. The pool and open air lounge area was the perfect space to relax in and enjoy the beautiful Sri Lankan sun. The rooms were spacious and very clean and the breakfast prepared for us every morning was perfect. Perhaps the best part of our stay were the family who hosted us. They always made sure we were well looked after and made us feel so welcome at the property. They gave us lots of useful information which helped us get the most out of our stay in Hiriketiya beach. Sadly we only stayed for two nights, but if I had my time again I would book at least 3 to 4. Without a doubt Saffron house was a highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka, and is one of the most relaxing and special places I have stayed in all my travels. We will definitely be back. Thanks again!

Booking was not honoured, they had double booked me. Staff were nice and apologetic, but their strict cancellation policy meant I had to wait for a refund from the Booking.com website, meaning I was out of pocket while I booked an alternative.

Hypocritical to have a strict cancellation policy on customers when they will do this. This should change.

The staff were incredible. Very friendly and very accommodating. Everything was very clean and efficient! All the facilities were great, the air conditioning, the outside bathroom and the location are all exceptional.

What is not to like - nothing. This house is a beautiful oasis, with friendly happy staff, great view, great pool and a short walk to Smoke and Bitters. Sugar was a pleasant surprise and always offered a happy waggy tail.

Exceptional! The property is amazing, and Chris and her team provide a 5-star experience while making you feel at home. Super convenient to all the beaches.

Hospitality - Chris (the manager) and her son were very welcoming. They also made great recommendations for places to go in Dickwella. Sugar, the dog, is welcoming too and super adorable! Food - Chris' home-cooked food was amazing and full of flavor. She's clearly passionate about cooking traditional Sri Lankan food. Location - great location right in the middle between Dickwella beach and Hiriketiya beach. Room - the room was very spacious, and the outdoor bathroom was an incredible experience immersed in nature with wild monkeys around! Pool - the pool and outdoor garden were amazing, and the sunset views here are even better than being right on the beach

I only make this comment because of the high price-point which justifies it: Although we didn't ask for this, it would have been appreciated if the room were cleaned on a daily basis, similar to some other bed & breakfast stays in Sri Lanka.
