Everything worst place ever stayed mens toilets were flooded all weekend ladies toilets filthy when you left had to use back door no lighting in pitch black alley

Not letting us know we needed a disc to park, ended up getting a parking fine. Spoilt our stay

Loved the location of this hotel. The staff were brilliant, special mention for Tom, who must sleep upside down in a cave, as he’s always there. Great choice of drinks in the bar and sports😁. The room was very comfy and we slept soundly. The secondary glazing on the window shuts out all the sound from the revellers below. Bed was comfy and lots of tea /coffee etc. even Croissants for my wife.

The property is hundreds of years old, and I’m sure is a listed building. As such, the design leads to a quirky set up of steps and staircases all over the place. Very creaky which adds to its character. The decor in the room was ok but the room could do with a spruce up to bring it up to date. Extension leads are not really suitable today, but with a little TLC and a bit of money I’m sure it could be brought up to date. You do need to get rid of the wood chip wallpaper.

Location, food and drink were good. Staff were excellent.

Bathroom light did not work, could not be fixed during our 3 night stay. (We were given a free drink each for this)The lock malfunctioned while we were in our room, so we had to phone the hotel for someone to come up with a spare key. At 6.20 am on our 2nd night the fire alarm went off. Noone answered when we rang both the emergency numbers, so we had to call the fire brigade to check the property before we could return to our room. (We were refunded 1 night's stay).

Staff very amenable to requests and meeting needs. Had a little trouble with a piece of furniture in the room but issue was resolved quickly, easily and with great customer service. Very generous and courteous. Great location for what we needed.

Parking tricky due to restrictions in town square (nothing to do with the pub), so would be useful to have this information on searching and booking. Entry to the building out of hours was a challenge due to poor instructions on use of keys but was resolved quickly.

Lovely room and very clean
