Hotel Casa Palopo

Perfect location with an astonishing view.

We spent 2 nights within the same week. When we came back for the second week, we paid to be upgraded for a room (number 3) with a terrace giving on the lake. The view was astonishing. However, the bed quality was terrible, with literally 2 downward slopes from the middle of the mattress. We had to can cancel our plans footnote the morning after… we mentioned it politely but explicitly to 2 staff members at the reception. Between 8am and 5pm when we left, the only answer was « we are going to investigate ». The hotel manager did not show up and we were asked to pay our 3 digits upgrade fee. This hotel is great (we loved room 1 for our first night) but this is not the level of service we were used to get in other hotels from the Relais & Châteaux chain.

The setting is amazing, stunning scenery, food was very good. Service was friendly and helpful and rooms very comfortable. Would love to return.

Nothing really- some extra options for dinner with specials if you're staying more than a few days.

Oh my goodness, what can’t I say about this property? It was a magical stay. The beauty of the property, the views of the lake and volcanoes, the attention to very single detail and the professionals who made our stay feel like home were unforgettable. We will absolutely be back. If staying in Lake Atitlan you MUST stay at this incredibly special property.

Not a thing

The view on the lake was amazing, the location perfect and the place itself is gorgeous !

The managing director was not helpful at all without any compromise due to a mistake done on the reservation through booking !!!

The property was without doubt one of the most aesthetically considered hotels we’ve been to. The decor (from the artwork to the furniture to the cutlery) was beautiful and incredibly detail oriented, with a local Guatemala / Mayan theme. The setting was even better, with great views over the lake and nicely nestled into the hills. The staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for you. Definitely visit Casa Palopo if you’re visiting Atitlan.

It was a great stay, however we would have like the restaurant to serve more Guatemalan food (it was still fantastic food, but quite European). It would have been good for it to be open a little later too. But these are minor comments.

Great food and presentation. The rooms were really lovely.

Perhaps more diversity in the food menu if one is staying for 2 or more nights. Also, some smaller meal options would also be nice like a cup of tomatoe or minestrone soup and 1/2 sandwich.

Everything from the food to the rooms were excellent.

The staff is amazing! The facilities are wonderful! I loved everything there!

They need to have someone available at the pool upstairs so you can easily have a drink with that amazing view!
