they TAX and add tip for everything it’s a bit excessive. Also the front desk is not 24hr. My friend got really sick and we had no helppppp there was no one around. She literally had to deal with her GI issues all night.

The location and the view from one room that I booked .

I had a serious problem with the noise because they had to repair the hydraulic pump ( so they told me.. ) and they worked beyond the wall of my room from 9am to 6pm the second day of my arrival. Luckily that day we stayed out for a tour until the 3pm, but the point was the behavior or the staff at the reception when, after 2 hours of noise in my head ( the distance with the drill was 50 centimeters..) they absolutely don’t care .. they looked at mi like a person who bother for nothing .. ( the night before I found a scorpion in my room at 11 pm and nobody answered my call because nobody was around .. and I thought ok ‘could happen’ ..). I live in Mexico, I work in maintenance, so I’m used to this kind of issues , they ‘could happen’ I repeated but .. It’s a Ralais & Chateaux )! I. expected something different from the staff .. excuses first, maybe ask me if I’d like to change my room, or at least a bottle of wine? of water? a simple ‘sorry’? Some reactions please ..a little bit of empathy…a smile ..it’s a 5 star hotel , almost 500 us for night..please ..

Casa Palopo is an excellent choice for Lake Atitlan, with spotlessly clean and modern rooms, great public spaces, very tasteful design and superb staff. The food in the restaurant was excellent.

While we really liked the hotel and consider it very well managed, we felt that it is overpriced in international terms, and certainly in Guatemalan terms. We were upgraded after the first night as there was construction outside our room, and we moved into the Villa, which is a separate building above the main hotel. The Villa has phenomenal facilities, and is more expensive than the hotel, but I think is better value. Note that some of the photos of the hotel are actually of the Villa- I presume that if it's fully booked then residents of the hotel are not able to use its facilities (mainly the pool area, which is way better than the hotel's). Also note that there is no access to Lake Atitlan from the hotel- you need to take a taxi into the nearest town, where you can arrange for a boat.

The interiors were insane, the staff were super friendly and the view was insane.

Unique decor. Great location with wonderful views of the lake and volcanoes.
