"Disappointing property but lovely staff."

The location was good and the staff were excellent.

The whole place is in serious need of refurbishment and renovation. The property is up for sale, and it's debatable whether it should be open to guests in its current state.

"Great stopover in an historic coaching inn"

An old coaching inn with history around every corner. Friendly staff and good quality, reasonable value breakfast and dinner options. Convenient location for a stopover or visiting lovely Raby Castle.

Room was a little dated and could definitely benefit from better blackout curtains. Bathroom small but adequate.

"Lov we ly location, lovely hotel and staff just decor a little tired."

Location and the history of the hotel

A bit tired in some areas and in need of a fresh up, bed side lamps were flashing on and off and didn’t work and the curtains and net curtains were not put up correctly and spoiled the feeling of the room.
