Read this before you book! This accommodation is located on a street where it’s not safe to walk after 6 pm because of wild elephants. We didn’t know this and almost walked the path at night, until a local kindly helped us. When we arrived back at the homestay, a group of people stood nervously behind the electric wire because a wild elephant had just passed. Without the rescue and warnings of the local, we would have ended up in a dangerous situation. The host can arrange transport, but at a high price (likely because taxis avoid this road at night). We also found the host unfriendly: we only saw her briefly at check-in, she never asked how our stay was and she didn’t even show up at dinner after we had confirmed we wanted to eat there. At departure, things got worse: our driver was yelled at and threatend by the hosts partner because they wanted to handle the transfer to another city themselves. This left a very bad impression. On the practical side: the pool is nice, the bathroom is clean, the A/C works, but the room wasn’t very clean, there’s poor Wifi and there is early morning construction noise. Overall: because of the missing safety warning and the extremely unfriendly treatment, we strongly advise against booking this place.

Enige mini minpuntjes was dat er snachts / sochtends geblaf was van honden rondom de homestay.

We hebben hier een week verbleven en het was een heerlijke uitvalsbasis om Sigiriya en de omgeving te verkennen. De eigenaren zijn ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam, altijd bereid om mee te denken of iets te regelen (van tuktuks tot safari’s). Ze gaven bijvoorbeeld aan naar Kaudulla te gaan in plaats van Minneriya, omdat daar meer olifanten zaten dat moment. De kamer was eenvoudig maar heel schoon, met een goed bed en airco/ventilator zodat je ook ’s nachts prettig slaapt. Ook het water is hier schoon. Elke ochtend kregen we een uitgebreid ontbijt met ei, vers fruit, roti, hoppers: steeds weer lekker en afwisselend. De locatie is top: rustig gelegen in het groen, met een supermooie tuin en heerlijk zwembad. En dichtbij de bezienswaardigheden. Met de scooter of tuktuk ben je zo bij de Sigiriya Rock en Pidurangala Rock, en ook voor safari’s naar Minneriya/Kaudulla zit je perfect. Al met al een heel fijne plek met veel persoonlijke aandacht. We voelden ons hier echt welkom en zouden deze homestay zeker aanraden aan iedereen die Sigiriya bezoekt.

Od samego początku zostaliśmy przywitani bardzo serdecznie i od razu otrzymaliśmy komfortowe pokoje. Śniadania były smaczne i urozmaicone zarówno pierwszego, jak i kolejnego dnia. Skorzystaliśmy także z kolacji, która była dostępna za dodatkową opłatą i również bardzo nam smakowała. Właściciele okazali się niezwykle pomocni – zawsze gotowi, by zawieźć nas do miasta, zorganizować Safari czy pomóc w transporcie do kolejnego miejsca pobytu. Wszystko odbywało się punktualnie i bez problemów. Obsługa była zawsze miła, uprzejma i chętna do pomocy. Serdecznie polecamy ten guesthouse – czuliśmy się tutaj bardzo dobrze zaopiekowani.

The property was exceptional and great value for money. Sujee the host and his family were very welcoming and organised multiple things for us to do such as a safari, Pidurangala rock sunrise hike, Dambulla caves and a gem stone store. They also provided us with great food and even a short notice packed lunch for the safari. We had time to relax in their wonderful pool.

We really enjoyed everything of this lovely house and family, the food, the rooms and the swimming pool and fantastic. We highly recommend to do the cooking class there and learn how to do delicious Sri Lanka if we have the change we would definitely repeat here.

Nothing, it was all really great

The place offers a beautiful and quiet garden with pool, which is great. It is located a bit away from the city center but accessible easily through tuk tuk and one is available at the house, which is convenient!

schone kamers en heerlijke warme douche. Ook het zwembad is erg schoon met fijne ligbedden. Heerlijk ontbijt en avondeten. Personeel is erg vriendelijk. De eigenaren zelf maar ook hun chauffeur die ons overal naartoe reed. We hebben hier kookles genomen en dat was erg leuk en het lekkerste eten dat we in Sri Lanka hebben gegeten.

Cette guesthouse a été notre meilleur logement au Sri Lanka. Tenue par une famille adorable, les chambres sont très propres et très bien équipées. Un service de tuktuk est assuré par les gérants pour vous emmener n’importe où. Les petits déjeuners sont variés et copieux, la possibilité de déjeuner et dîner sur place est un vrai plus. Nous avons également vraiment apprécié la piscine.
