NLThis accommodation was absolutely amazing!! Robbie, the host, is the best! We arrived pretty late from Sumbawa and he still made us dinner. He uses almost only things from his own garden, so cool and fresh! His aunt helped us with our laundry, the breakfast was amazing and we could stay an extra night. Also he lend us his scooter for some sightseeing. His uncle led us to the Agal Waterfall which was a nice hike (but the uncle didn’t speak English). Lastly, he brought us to the bus in the city. The room is nice, what you expect for that price on Sumbawa. The airco works, it is pretty quiet, there is a normal toilet and the bed is comfy.
The only thing (but we did not tell him) is that the shower was super hot or cold, but not a big problem.
DEI booked 3 nights but ended up staying for a week. Through Robby I got to experience and understand what the culture, the food and the agriculture of Sumbawa is like. Every dish his family is cooking for you is unique by using traditional recipes and organic ingredients that grow on his small farm, Anthony Bourdain would have loved it here! On top of that Robby organised an island tour, took me to the market and showed me how coffee is being produced here. Also the hike to the waterfall is impressive. If you want to see the true Sumbawa do yourself a favor and stay for at least 2-3 nights!
The room might be simple but has everything you need.
PLThe homestay is located in a special area with a food garden and run by a lovely family. We so much appreciate staying there as it gave us a feeling of grounding in our travel through contact with natural beauty of the surroundings and heartwarming exchange with Robby and Tiu. I would love to visit again in the future this special place. The food was delicious and we got to know the ingredients of local Sumbawa cusine. We also bought the wild bees honey that they sell. Robbie went with us for a forest walk early in the morning and explained a lot about the area, plants, animals. He knows a lot and has a good heart :)
ESEverything was great. Nature and good food
