"Gorgeous decor in the bar. Perfect for young couples who stay up late, not for families"

5.0

The seating area down stairs looked lovely. A late check out until 1pm was really helpful. (I did have to pay extra) The hardworking man behind the bar, at breakfast serving, helping with cases and behind the hotel reception desk, when there was not one there to see us out, was everywhere! And deserves the recognition!

We booked the most expensive room, only because we wanted the sofa bed (mum and daughter). My daughter was attending her Art GCSEs in the Tutors and Exams centre round the corner for 2 days, so she needed to get a good night's sleep! But when we arrived and called for the sofa bed bedding, we was told we wasn't allowed to use the sofa bed, first told because it was broken (we had already pulled it out ready, and it didn't appear to be broken), then they said it's because we didn't request 3 people during the booking stage! (Why would I, there was only 2 of us!) It shouldn't state a sofa bed in that room, if you have to pay extra extra to use it! We had to share a small double bed, where the mattress was way to small for the frame it was in, and we kept losing our pillow down the back. We had to listen to ridiculous noise outside - cars constantly speeding up and down, and lots of noise from people out there too (Tuesday and Wednesday night) including an open mic night with drumming and music starting to blare out at 23:20! The windows appear to be single glazed, so it sounds like your window is open, and there's a constant draft with the blinds flapping from the window. Along with the clicking noise from the heater as well, it's safe to say we got hardly any sleep. My poor daughter went to her exam exhausted, 2 days in a row 😢 The lifts were not working, there was a crocodile clip under the chair (so no hoovering under there), and the selection for the continental breakfast is the smallest I've ever seen. Drinks was tea, coffee, orange juice or water. Apple juice was there on the second day. A few boxes of cereal, melon, a pot of yoghurt, and two choices of pastries. My daughter had the pancakes off the menu and a glass of water, (as she doesn't like orange juice) which would have cost £9, but instead we had paid £15 per person. Not good value for her.
