Maja House Penida

The room is big, clean and comfortable and had everything you need.

The water in the shower was salty, not sure why because the one from the tap isn't. There is not shampoo provided, only a bar of soap. When I was there the internet didn't work, neither the WiFi nor the telkomsel data, it seems to be a pretty common issue on the island when it's raining, so don't plan on working when you're there

Cheap and Easy access to beach, restaurants, cafe. Basic but very comfortable.

Great support given by staff (recommendations of places to visit, taxi contact and speed boat contact, scooter in the same place). Silent place. Well located.

Nearby beaches seem to be from the restaurants around and it's difficult to find a place to rest on. Restaurants are mediocre, we would prefer more local food rather than bruguers/ pasta / pizza of low quality. Overall, crowded island not to spend more than 2 days in our opinion.

We had a very nice time at Maja House. The stuff was very kind and helpful. We wanted to do an island tour and they helped with a last minute booking. They also helped with other recommendations. There are many restaurants and shops near by for you to choose from. The place was clean and it was a quiet area to enjoy the terrace outside.

The price

The room was more than basic, a bed, two plugs and that was pretty much it. Cleanliness more than debatable. Bedsheets with holes and stains. Soundproofing has not make its way to Maja House as you can hear everything from the adjacent rooms (needless to mention the chickens and works close by since these are pretty common in Indonesia). Cherry on the cake: no water - at all - in the shower. We let the owner know on the first morning, came back at the end of the day and it still was not fixed. No one to help since no staff/owner can be found at anytime of the day. A room is cheap, yet there is a minimum to be provided. Bonus: we decided to leave after our first night, when we came back and were still unable to shower. The owner of the guest house next door witnessed the scene and tried to reach the owner of Maja, in vain. He came in the room trying to fix the shower when we were leaving, so we asked him to close the door behind him as we could not take all our lugages on the scooter. We came back half an your later: shower still not working, room’s door wide open with our suitcases in sight and all lights on.

Best location to stay at in Nusa penida is at North, it is close to many restaurants and beach clubs. Very convenient place to stay at, Owners were Okay Nice. Kettle, Tea and toothbrushes were provided

Bathroom could be better, towels didnt smell good. Room was very basic with limited amount of plugs.
