The wonderful staff - couldn't do enough for us

Its disappointing that the (busy / popular) bistro menu isn't available in the main dining room - which was all but empty when we stayed, such a shame.

Expensive but a one off experience

1. The hotel is presented on Booking.com as a five-star property, but in reality, it is only four-star. This was very disappointing, as I specifically searched for five-star hotels. 2. The grounds look nice in photos from the lake side, but in reality they were covered with goose droppings, which were never cleaned during our 2-day stay, making it unpleasant to walk. 3. The lakeside gazebo with chairs and a table was extremely dirty, so it was impossible to sit and enjoy the view. 4. During our stay, the hotel façade was under renovation (plastering and painting), which was not mentioned in advance. 5. The rooms seemed recently renovated but had a strong toxic smell, likely from paint or building materials. Both of our rooms had the same issue. 6. Although we booked two lake-view rooms a month in advance, we were placed on different floors and in different wings of the hotel. For a family of four, this was very inconvenient and disappointing.

On the positive side: • We really enjoyed the restaurants in the hotel – the food was delicious, high quality, beautifully presented, and well organized. • The location of the hotel is excellent, within walking distance and close to the main towns. • The setting itself is very beautiful, right by the lake.
