Star Castle Hotel

Always love the Star Castle hotel. Great friendly staff and fabulous food. The perfect spot to stroll down the hill into town.

The breakfast, whether in the castle, the conservatory or in the room was excellent

Coffee bags in the room rather than instant sachets

Reception staff were friendly and accommodating. The free taxi service is a bonus. The setting is probably the best on St Mary's. The quality of the room, room furnishings and room terrace mirror the price.

The Scillies are an expensive place to get to and to stay on. I understand why but the fact remains.

I bought this trip for my parents as a Christmas present. This review is a summary of their experience. This was a wonderful stay. The staff were welcoming, efficient and helpful in their communications before we arrived and throughout our visit. The room was beautifully furnished, very spacious, well equipped, comfortable and with amazing views out to the other islands. The food in the main dining room and at breakfast was delicious and the service excellent. The transfer to and from the airport worked very well too.

Location . Staff was very obliging and friendly.

Hot Breakfast needed to be hot , not warm. We had to ask for toast not offered . Kettle in room had to be put on floor to plug in then put back in window to use . Bedroom very small hit head on slopping window . No mimi fridge or hairdryer . Tv not tuned in . Small mirror . Bathroom very dated .

The position of the hotel is wonderful and the walk around the garrison was great . The food was very very good . More like Michelin star . The housekeeping staff were friendly and did a great job cleaning .

I did not like that it was not dog friendly . I went and paid for two small dogs . Although I understand that dogs could not eat in restaurant , I did not like that I felt like a second class citizen eating in a bedroom corridor which was made up for me with the dogs at breakfast . People going in and out of their bedrooms . I felt that comfortable . A staff member reluctantly made a table up for me in the dungeon bar for dinner but only after I saw another person was there with their dog . The hotel should not advertise and take money for dogs when not dog friendly . When I gave feedback to a staff member at reception called Sarah .. she became defensive . Saying this is not the hotel for you ... staff should be more open to feedback . Aldo they added 19 pounds to my bill for wine that I did not have ... once I pointed it out Sarah did remove it saying ... thee was a discrepancy and we did not know if it was yours or not ..... this is frankly not on . I would not stay here again with or without dogs .

Beautiful location but steep walk up to castle. Staff v friendly & helpful. Excellent food with changing menu daily. Lovely restful holiday. Garden room was spacious & comfy.

Nothing really. Weather was a bit mixed but it brightened up so that was good.
