Mafia Dream Hotel

It is a new hotel, but the best one that we went to in tanzania. The staff is lovely and helped us out werever they could. Would definitly go back if we are at mafia island in the future.

Clean and comfortable rooms, conveniently located around a shared pool and just next to the restaurant. The Hotel is located near the airport which eases the access to all sorts of venues around the island.

A little office desk in each room would be great for those who travel for work or for office work. Some home-made jam for breakfast would be a welcome plus to replace the industrial jelly served.

The pool was nice, the staff was attentive and helpful, the rooms were nice and clean. It’s a good value for the money.

If you are traveling to Mafia Island to have a view of the beach, choose a hotel with a beach view.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for five nights in November 2023 and absolutely loved it! Great food, lovely staff, and wonderful surroundings! We were the only guests, so the staff was kind enough to plan all our activities and transportation. The great thing about Marfia Island is that everything is fairly close, so we rarely have to drive for more than an hour. Living in Killindoni also leaves a lot to do for those not going to Marfia for diving. - Danish travelers

The rooms were nice and well built but we had a small issue with a leaking shower but the management was eager to fix it.

The staff was magnificent, kind, and attentive. The facilities are new and beautiful. The pool was perfect to relax in and cool off. The location is centrally located, we even walked to and from the airport. They called for transportation to scuba diving and whale shark tours. The food was excellent and plentiful. We ate all our meals there for 6 days. And the staff was wonderful. All 5 of us in our group, after a month of traveling, highly recommend Mafia Dream

The only thing we could think of would be having cushions on the dining room chairs in the dining room. We took towels to sit on after a few days.

Wonderful staff, excellent beds and a very nice swimming pool. The chef made some very good meals and the room was very spacious and very new. The staff is also very helpful if you want to explore the island. I can highly recommend Mafia Dream Hotel if you are looking for a place at Mafia Island.

An oasis in the middle of Kilindoni. Great location right in the middle of town, however still quiet. The rooms were specious and clean. Outside of the marine park, the beaches on the island aren’t the best for swimming, so the clean pool provided a sanctuary from the heat. Some of the best customer service from the staff and restaurant team. We were able to check out late without any issues, as the flights to/from the island are in the afternoon. Even if you don’t stay here, come for the grilled calamari! It’s some of the best we’ve ever tried. The restaurant had delicious food and super cold drinks, served by some of the loveliest people!

It’s a new place, so they’re working out some kinks. However the staff is super responsive and willing to accommodate any issues!

We extended our stays two more nights, which means we generally liked this place. It’s a new hotel, nice pool, clean, food was good too. Hot shower was readily available. Close from the airport, market where we can buy fruits, and ATM. We went out several times to the ATM and market for fruit, and we always felt safe. Locals are very friendly, too. Hamidu, the manager of this hotel arranged all the trip (whaleshark trip, scubadiving or snorkeling trip, daytrip to the lighthouse, even gopro rental), and he was always polite and friendly. Because of the pouring rain, we had to cancel our trips several times, and he was understanding and patient with it, which i really appreciate. P.S. If you are interested in snorkeling trip, ask Hamidu to arrange the trip with Hamisi. Hamisi is a Chole born and bred snorkeling guide. He knows all the best snorkeling spots. It was my mom’s first time reef snorkeling, so she was very nervous, but Hamisi really took great care of her, and she successfully finished two times of snorkeling with him. He showed us a variety of marine life like eels and lobsters. He also has great personality, our family really loved being with him.

There were several issues during our 4 nights stay here, but the staff always tried their best to handle them. Our family visited many airbnbs and hotels Kenya and Tanzania for a month, and our conclusion is that you cannot expect the same kind of convenience and perfection as in your home country (in our case, South Korea). Still, this hotel was one of the best, in East African standard. So unless you keep your expectations too high, i am sure you will enjoy your stay here.

Staff were wonderful, rooms clean and comfortable, food selection was broad and tasty, location can’t be beat.
