The Castle Tavern Pub & Guest Rooms

The location is perfect in the centre of the Market Square. The property was very clean, good shower, nice products in the bathroom, clean bedlinen and a comfortable bed. It's a quirky, older property with rooms over a pub, but all in all, a great location and we enjoyed our stay.

We were unaware that parking outside operated under a Disc system and had a parking ticket the following morning. It would have been extremely helpful if the person checking us in had advised us of the parking situation as we didn't see any signs to this effect outside. Also, there was no hairdryer in our room. I contacted the Host regarding this but unfortunately we had left before he responded. Apart from that, no real issues.

I liked the hotel & Richmond so much I stayed an extra night. My room was spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished & spacious with a comfortable double bed, a small comfortable armchair & chair by the dressing table. There was generous drawer space both in the bedside tables & dressing table. The bathroom was very clean with a bath & shower which functioned well & had constant hot water. There were two radiators in the bedroom & one in the bathroom, which were easily turned on/off so I could adjust the temperature to my requirements. I was able to access my room either from the pub or by a side door that opened directly to the stairs to my room.

There wax nothing I didn’t like.

Jon and Fiona checked in by text to make sure everything was ok - and responded very quickly to any queries. Comfortable room. Good shower and good size towels! Staff helpful (with check in, cases and queries about parking).

Great central location

It does advertise itself as being noisy and the music and hubbub from the pub is fine. But the shouting in the alleyway outside, the fire alarm going off at 10pm and the noisy water were all a bit too much,
