Lake view Romantic retreat

Beautiful setting & view, spacious, very well equipped, and peaceful (I was visiting Aber for study & writing, so it was great to have a quiet bolthole to return to). This would be a fantastic base for a relaxing holiday.

For anyone reading this, the fridge is in the cupboard under the stairs - I didn’t find it until I was leaving! Could benefit from a bigger bathroom sink (perhaps upstairs in bedroom?) - the loo/shower is v compact, but shaving in the kitchen sink was a bit of a challenge. Just a minor point / suggestion for future tho - otherwise a great spot & good value, and would definitely recommend / stay again.

Stunning views, excellent accommodation lovely host who lit the fire before we arrived so it was nice and cosy. Loved the notes about her family and the property. Very homely feel. We will definitely be visiting again.

A stunningly beautiful location. The host (Maggie) made it feel very welcoming and even got the fire lit in the log burner for us as we were arriving late. Very comfortable. Loved it!

Location is excellent with a lot of walks and historical interest in the area, and with the pleasant town of Aberyswyth nearby. Property is very clean, homely and comfortable. Shower/toilet room and electric shower almost adequate. The property was a little cold on entry but there are heaters provided and the wood burner proved very efficient at warming the place up. Hostess very pleasant and provided the basics with a couple of tasty extras. There are photos on the stair wall with explanations of what there are on them--I liked these as they gave both historical perspective and the owner's personal connection to the property.

Post it notes everywhere--I presume the hostess gets some sort of bulk discount from 3M for the amount she uses. Most state the bleeding obvious and are neither required nor pleasant in appearance--they rather downgrade the decor. Post it notes are not the way to communicate information to visitors and there is a manual available in the property to do that. These are a minor irritation but what will stop me going back with my wife is the lack of running hot water (apart from the electric shower). The shower room has the smallest sink I have seen in any property and this has a cold water tap only. The kitchen area has a device that I presume is meant to heat water as it leaves the tap but the best I got out of it was lukewarm and then only at a very low flow rate. I used the kettle to heat water for washing up and didn't shave whilst there as the tiny sink in the shower room made this impractical. So, gentlemen, bring a battery electric razor as there's no razor socket either. The place needs to be brought up to 21st century standards--I don't think its unreasonable to expect running hot water for £99 per night.

The location of the property was just perfect. It was so peaceful and the views were amazing, even when it rained! It was lovely being visited by the horses each day and also a friendly cat! Maggie had gone out of her way to provide lots of little extras to make us feel welcome, which was really appreciated.
