Pumba Private Game Reserve

Die Unterkunft war perfekt, die Wildtiere sah man direkt von der Terrasse aus. Es wurde alles für unser Wohlbefinden getan. Unser Guide Denise hat maßgeblich zu diesem einmaligen Erlebnis beigetragen. Sie war absolut spitze. Durch Ihren unermüdlichen Einsatz konnten wir viele Tier, inkl. die Big Five sehen. Wir waren leider nur zwei Nächte im Pumpa und können diese Unterkunft jederzeit empfehlen. Man spürt die Liebe zu den Tieren.

We stayed in room A at the bush lodge. The room was excellent, very comfortably furnished and with an amazing view over the watering hole where, each morning, we were treated to impala, warthogs, wildebeest and even rhinos, giraffes and elephants...and that was just from our room! Our ranger, Cameron, took us on all our game drives. He was superb. He tracked and found everything the reserve had to offer, with jaw-droopingly close encounters with elephants, giraffes, white lions and rhinos, we even witnessed a rhino chasing off the lions. There wasn't a question that Cameron couldn't answer about any of the wildlife, not just the large animals but birds, reptiles, insects and spiders. An outstanding experience.

Pumba is rated as 5* but the service in the restaurant was somewhat slow and a few mistakes were made in bringing the wrong things to the wrong table. The menu was good but the food could have been better. We also had daily problems with wifi in the room and on the last day all the power outlets died so we were unable to charge our devices before the morning checkout. When we reported the problem one of the reception staff came to the room and explained that the technician had left for the day.

Wat een onvergetelijke ervaring! Tijdens ons verblijf van twee nachten werden we werkelijk in de watten gelegd. Het ontbrak ons aan niets. Het personeel was buitengewoon vriendelijk, attent en tot in de puntjes servicegericht. Ontbijt, lunch én diner waren stuk voor stuk verrukkelijk, en ’s avonds werden we verwend met voortreffelijke wijnen. De twee dagelijkse game drives van 2,5 tot 3 uur waren ronduit spectaculair. Elke rit eindigde op een magische manier: ’s ochtends met een sfeervolle koffiebar midden in de natuur, en ’s middags met een gezellige borrelbar onder de Afrikaanse zon.

Een kleine kanttekening bij een verder heerlijk verblijf: Hoewel het restaurant tot 22.00 uur geopend is, viel het ons op dat de verwarming al om 21.00 uur werd uitgeschakeld. Dat was jammer, want het werd merkbaar fris. Mijn suggestie: sluit het restaurant om 21.00 uur óf laat de verwarming aan tot sluitingstijd. Dat gezegd hebbende — dit detail deed absoluut geen afbreuk aan ons verblijf. We hebben genoten!

Staff at restaurant can be more friendly

Everything about Pumba Water lodge is amazing. The room was beautiful- the private pool was a welcome surprise. The staff are amazing. Lots of small touches and regular cleaning of the room too. The spa was lovely. The game drives are great- very private and not many guests per jeep- you have a drink stop on each one and the rangers go above and beyond to make sure you see lots of animals. The reserve is huge and it is exciting when you do find a lion! The food is great with a really good menu selection each day- we did all inclusive. The restaurant area is lovely with beautiful views. We had the best ever time here and would not hesitate to recommend. Really hope we can return one day.
