Lovelady Shield Country House Hotel

Lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff and great food. Absolutely beautiful setting and building, felt like something from an Agatha Christie novel. Rooms were clean, well appointed and comfortable.

The room (14) was more than acceptable. The breakfasts were good and the waitress service pleasant and efficient. The grounds were pleasant and the price acceptable.

The hotel's glory is somewhat faded and the entry dingy. I can't remember if this was signalled on your website but I had not realised that it would be a 'dry' hotel. The remoteness of the hotel meant that no signal was available for the TV's Freeview channels.

Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Comfy room with great views. No drink licence so bring your own. But would stay there again and recommend it. Great value.

The staff were absolutely superb, nothing was too much trouble. We arrived later that expected, close to the closing time for the restaurant, however the staff were more than happy to offer a full choice of options, even giving us extra time after closing to finish without rushing. Breakfast was fantastic, a full offering, literally whatever you wanted and cooked to order.

Only booked the singe night, wished we'd stayed longer.

Lovely rural setting, deliciously fresh home cooking, very nice staff, comfortable room with a great outlook.

It doesn't have a licence but that's healthy for a short stay and you can bring your own

The whole experience was spoilt by the coldneess of the hotel throughout. I think the hotel needs a revamp inside and out. It's a lovely building being neglected.
