The Shipwright Inn

Owners couldn't do enough for us, complimentary water and orange juice in fridge for us. Restaurant food was delicous and generous portions.

There was nothing we didn't like. Only one suggestion could do with a bin for cigarette butt's outside accommodation.

Newly renovated and refurbished. Comfortable and clean with use of kitchen facilities for breakfast. Mike was a delightful host.

Very clean and the bed was comfy. It was perfectly fine, but had the description been a little more accurate, and we’d still have booked, I would have probably given it a better rating. It’s just not what we were expecting.

I don’t think the description fully matched the property; it was a bit more basic than what had been described. “Breakfast included” normally means a hot, cooked breakfast of some kind, rather than make yourself toast or cereal in the morning. The rooms did smell faintly of smoke; you could definitely tell you were over a pub. We were told that the pub below wasn’t open for the evening as the chef was off, but it would appear that all of the pub staff were off and probably more likely that the pub was closing/in the process of shutting down.

The room was newly renovated and the best sheets and towels were great!

The room was neat and am sure newly renovated, but the windows do not open and the room builds up moisture. The windows never open. A handyman was still working in our room even upon our arrival. We were was told there was breakfast included but upon our arrival, we were shocked to learn that we had to prepare our own breakfast even with the breakfast stuff bought. We were not impressed by this at all. We were looking forward to freshly prepared English breakfast of eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, toast, sausages and All. Nope! It was bread and tea only yet this was considered breakfast on the website.. We were told we would pay in the morning , yet there was no one on the premises the following morning to take the payment! I had to call around until I found a staff member and I had to pay in-between our other activities , inconveniencing our planned day.
